Gas leak detectorAs a key equipment for ensuring industrial safety, preventing fires, explosions, and poisoning accidents, its measurement accuracy is directly related to personnel life and production safety. However, instrument performance may drift over time due to factors such as sensor aging, environmental interference, or mechanical shock. Therefore, the calibration of scientific standards is crucial.
1、 Common calibration methods
1. Zero point calibration
Adjust the instrument reading to "0" in clean air or an environment known to be free of the target gas. This step is used to eliminate baseline drift and is suitable for sensor types such as electrochemistry and semiconductors that are susceptible to environmental influences.
2. Span Calibration
Use standard gas with accurate concentration and traceable source (such as 50 ppm H ₂ S, 2.5% LEL CH ₄, etc.), pass it into the sampling port of the detector, and adjust it to the standard value after the reading is stable. This process verifies and corrects the sensitivity and linear response of the instrument.
3. Bump testing (functional verification)
Perform rapid exposure testing between formal calibrations: briefly introduce standard gas to confirm that the instrument can alarm normally and display values close to the concentration of the standard gas. Although it is not a complete calibration, it can efficiently verify whether the equipment is in working condition.
Certified standard gases should be used during calibration to ensure that the flow rate and pressure meet the requirements of the instruction manual, and to operate in a stable temperature and humidity environment to avoid introducing additional errors.

2、 Calibration cycle recommendation
The calibration frequency should be determined comprehensively based on the equipment type, usage intensity, and regulatory requirements
1. High risk locations (such as chemical plants and oil and gas stations): It is recommended to conduct a bump test every 7-30 days and complete calibration every 1-3 months.
2. General industrial environment: Calibration can be done every 3-6 months, but functional checks should be performed before each use.
3. Portable devices: Due to frequent movement and susceptibility to vibration, the calibration cycle should be shorter than that of fixed devices.
4. After new equipment or maintenance: it must be recalibrated before it can be put into use.
In addition, if the instrument is dropped, exposed to abnormal environments, or shows abnormal readings, it should be calibrated immediately.
Regular calibration is not only a technical requirement, but also the bottom line of safety management. Establishing a calibration record ledger, training professional operators, and selecting qualified standard gases are essential to ensureGas leak detectorThe key to long-term reliable operation. Only by accurately measuring can we "prevent" and truly build the first line of defense for safety production.
