GB4706.13 Usage of Overflow Test Device
Date: 2025-12-17Read: 1
The GB4706.13 overflow test device is used to assess the anti overflow safety performance of kitchen appliances (such as electric kettles, rice cookers, etc.). The core is to simulate the overflow scenario during use and verify whether the equipment insulation and electrical safety meet the standards. The following are the standard usage methods:

Preparation before the experiment

  1. Confirm that the equipment complies with GB4706.13 "Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - Part 13: Special requirements for refrigeration appliances, ice cream makers, and ice makers" (note: for kitchen appliances, specific product sub standards need to be matched).

  2. Check the integrity of the device, including overflow containers, conduits, flow control valves, brackets, and other components, to ensure no damage and secure connections.

  3. Prepare test water: Use normal temperature tap water (water temperature 15 ℃~35 ℃), avoid using water with impurities or corrosiveness.

  4. Place the test sample: Place the electrical appliance to be tested on a horizontal test bench and place it normally according to the instructions, ensuring that the appliance is in the ready state before power on (such as adding water to the water level line of an electric kettle).

Experimental operation steps

  1. Adjust overflow device: Adjust the height and angle of the overflow conduit according to the size of the electrical appliance, so that the water flow can evenly cover key areas such as the top of the appliance, control panel, power interface, etc.

  2. Set overflow parameters: According to standard requirements, the flow rate should be controlled at 10L/h ± 1L/h, and some products need to set the overflow amount according to the rated capacity ratio (such as an electric kettle overflowing to 110% of the total capacity).

  3. Start overflow test: Open the flow valve and continuously overflow water to key parts of the electrical appliance. The test time is usually 30 minutes, during which the electrical appliance is kept powered on (if required by the standard).

  4. Real time monitoring status: Observe whether there are abnormalities such as short circuits, leakage, and overheating of the electrical appliances, and use an insulation resistance meter to monitor changes in insulation performance in real time.

Post experimental processing and result determination

  1. After stopping the overflow, cut off the electrical power, wipe off the surface moisture, and let it stand for 30 minutes.

  2. Key indicators for testing: Measure the insulation resistance of electrical appliances (should be ≥ 2M Ω), check whether electrical components have water ingress, whether their functions are normal, and whether the casing is damaged or corroded.

  3. Result judgment: If the insulation resistance meets the standard, there are no electrical faults, and the function is normal, it is judged as qualified; If there is leakage, short circuit, functional failure, etc., it is necessary to optimize the sealing structure or waterproof design.
