Chiller Selection Manual and Conversion of Various Refrigeration Units
Date: 2018-03-15Read: 0

1、 The conversion relationship between various refrigeration units is as follows:
1,1 kcal/h (kcal/hour)=1.163W, 1 W=0.8598 kcal/h;
2.1 Btu/h (British thermal units/hour)=0.2931W, 1 W=3.412 Btu/h;
3.1 USRT (US Cold Ton)=3.517 kW, 1 kW=0.28434 USRT;
4,1 kcal/h=3.968 Btu/h,1 Btu/h=0.252 kcal/h;
5,1 USRT=3024 kcal/h,10000 kcal/h=3.3069 USRT;
6. 1 horsepower=2.5 kW (for air-cooled units), 1 horsepower=3 kW (for water-cooled units)

2、 Refrigeration equipment selection formula:
1. Calculate heat generation based on the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of cooling water (oil)
Q = SH * De * F * DT / 60
Q: Heating capacity KW
SH: The specific heat of hot water is 4.2 kJ/Kg * C (4.2 kJ/kg * Celsius). The specific heat of oil is 1.97 kJ/Kg * C (1.97 kJ/kg * Celsius).
De: The specific gravity of water is 1Kg/L (1 kg/L), and the specific gravity of oil is 0.88Kg/L (0.88 kg/L)
F: Flow rate LPM (L/min/liter/minute)
DT: Temperature difference between inlet and outlet of cooling water (oil) (outlet temperature - inlet temperature)
Note: '/60' is used to convert flow rate from liters/minute to liters/second; 1kW = 1kJ/s ;
Example 1: Cooling water inlet at 20 degrees Celsius, outlet at 25 degrees Celsius, flow rate at 10 liters per minute
Heat generation Q=4.2 * 1 * 10 * (25-20)/60=3.5KW
When selecting the cooling capacity of the chiller, it is advisable to increase it by 20% -50% to choose CBE-02 HP
Example 2: The inlet temperature of the cooling oil is 25 degrees, the outlet temperature is 32 degrees, and the flow rate is 8 liters per minute
Heat generation Q=1.97 * 0.88 * 8 * (32-25)/60=1.62KW
When selecting the cooling capacity of the oil cooler, it can be appropriately increased by 20% -50% to choose CBE-01 HP
2. Calculate the heat generation based on the temperature rise of the water (oil) tank
Q = SH * De * V * DT / 60
Q: Heating capacity KW
SH: The specific heat of hot water is 4.2 kJ/Kg * C (4.2 kJ/kg * Celsius). The specific heat of oil is 1.97 kJ/Kg * C (1.97 kJ/kg * Celsius)
De: The specific gravity of water is 1Kg/L (1 kg/L), and the specific gravity of oil is 0.88Kg/L (0.88 kg/L)
V: Water capacity L (liters) includes the total water capacity in the water tank and pipelines
DT: The maximum temperature rise of water (oil) within one minute
Note: '/60' is used to convert temperature rise from Celsius/minute to Celsius/second; 1kW = 1kJ/s;
Attention: When measuring, the temperature of the water (oil) tank should be slightly lower than the ambient temperature; And the equipment is working under the maximum load.
Example: The maximum water temperature for a water tank with a capacity of 1000L is 0.2 degrees Celsius per minute
Heat generation Q=4.2 * 1 * 1000 * 0.2/60=14KW
