From what aspects can handheld spectrometers be maintained
Date: 2025-12-24Read: 2
As a precision analytical instrument, the maintenance quality of handheld spectrometers directly determines their service life and data reliability. The following systematically elaborates on maintenance points from six core dimensions:
1、 Daily cleaning and physical protection
1. Surface cleaning: Use a soft microfiber cloth to wipe the shell and screen. For stubborn stains, dip a small amount of isopropanol (concentration<70%) and gently wipe. Do not use strong solvents such as acetone or rough fabrics to avoid scratching the equipment. Cleaning the detection window requires the use of dust-free cotton swabs or compressed air cylinders to remove dust and metal debris. If there are sticky residues, gauze dipped in alcohol can be used to wipe along the edges. Do not insert objects into the interior of the detector.
2. Protection against physical damage: X-ray tubes, detectors, and beryllium windows are precision components and are strictly prohibited from collision or falling. Wear a wristband during use, and transport with original shock-absorbing boxes; Ensure that the sample is flat during measurement and avoid scratching the detection window with sharp objects. The touch screen needs to be cleaned regularly with ultra-fine fiber cloth, and hard objects are prohibited from touching it.
2、 Special maintenance of key components
1. Battery management: Use original batteries and avoid overcharging/overdischarging. Long term storage should maintain a battery level of 40% -60%, and activate charging at least once a year. High or low temperature environments can damage batteries and should be used within the recommended temperature range (usually 0-40 ℃).
2. Maintenance of the detection window: The replacement of the window film must be quickly completed in a dust-free environment to prevent dust from entering the detector. If the window is found to be damaged, immediately stop using it and replace it with original accessories, otherwise it may cause irreversible damage to the detector.
3、 Calibration and Performance Verification
1. Regular calibration: Use standard samples for calibration according to the manufacturer's requirements, and recalibrate in case of abnormal data. Perform status verification using standard blocks with known components after daily startup.
4、 Environment and Storage Optimization
1. Operating environment: The equipment should be used within a temperature range of -10 ℃~50 ℃, and the humidity should also be controlled within an appropriate range. Avoid exposure to rainwater, corrosive gases, or high dust environments, and waterproof models should also reduce the duration of exposure to rain.
2. Storage conditions: For long-term storage, it should be placed in a drying oven, with silica gel desiccant to absorb moisture, and powered on every 3 months to maintain circuit activity. Do not place it in direct sunlight or in environments with fog, liquids, or corrosive solvents.
5、 Operating standards and safety management
1. Safety guidelines: It is forbidden to aim X-rays at the human body during emission. Operators must wear protective equipment and regularly detect radiation leaks. It is strictly prohibited to delete system files or use USB devices with viruses to prevent software failures.
2. Operation control: When working continuously for 2 hours, the machine should be stopped and cooled for 20 minutes to avoid overheating and aging of components. Turn off the power after shutdown to reduce standby losses.
6、 Professional maintenance and record traceability
1. Deep maintenance: The manufacturer conducts internal maintenance such as optical path calibration and detector detection every year, and promptly replaces consumables such as filters and pump oil. Stop immediately in case of malfunction, do not disassemble on your own, contact after-sales service for handling.
2. Document management: Establish maintenance records, record fault symptoms, handling plans, and part replacement history for easy analysis of potential issues.
The maintenance of handheld spectrometers should be carried out throughout the entire usage cycle. Scientific maintenance can significantly reduce equipment failure rates while ensuring the accuracy and stability of detection results.
