Portable trace moisture analyzer is an important equipment for laboratory and on-site trace moisture analysis. Standardized daily maintenance is crucial to ensure the reliability of its measurement results and extend its service life. The following outlines the key maintenance details from the aspects of operation, storage, and component maintenance.
1、 Daily operation and maintenance during use
Before each use, it is recommended to perform a brief self check on the instrument, observe whether the self check function of the instrument is normal, check whether there are open or short circuit alarm prompts on the electrodes, and ensure that the basic condition is good. When injecting samples, it is necessary to strictly follow the operating procedures and avoid directly injecting solid impurities or highly corrosive samples into the electrolytic cell to avoid contaminating the reagents and damaging the electrodes. For different types of samples (liquid, gas, solid), corresponding specialized injection instruments and methods should be used to prevent improper operation from contaminating the instrument tubing and core reaction area.
2、 Regular maintenance of core components
The core of the Karl Fischer Coulomb instrument is the electrolytic cell and electrode system.
Electrolytic cell maintenance: Cleaning and sealing of the electrolytic cell are key. After each replacement of Karl Fischer reagent, it is recommended to gently clean and dry the inner wall of the electrolytic cell with a specialized cleaning solvent. Pay attention to checking the thread locking device of the electrolytic cell interface to ensure its sealing and prevent the reagent from absorbing moisture or leaking. When not in use for a long time, the reagents in the electrolytic cell should be discharged, cleaned and dried before storage.
Electrode maintenance: The platinum mesh of the measuring electrode and electrolysis electrode should be kept bright and clean. If dirt or reaction products are found attached to the electrode surface, it is necessary to use a suitable solvent (such as anhydrous ethanol) for soaking and cleaning according to the instructions, and do not scratch with hard objects. Ensure good contact between the electrode plug and the socket, without corrosion or looseness.
3、 Reagent Management and Environmental Control
The quality of reagents directly affects the accuracy of testing. Karl Fischer reagent with the required purity should be used, and sealed and stored away from light. Reagents should not be left in the electrolytic cell for too long, especially when the environmental humidity is high. Reagents will fail faster due to absorbing moisture from the air. The working environment of the instrument should be kept dry and clean, avoiding direct sunlight and staying away from strong electromagnetic interference sources. Although the standby power consumption is low, it is still recommended to turn off the power and regularly turn it on to maintain the circuit state if not used for a long time.
4、 Data Management and Battery Maintenance
For models with data storage and wireless transmission capabilities, it is recommended to regularly export and backup historical data to a computer or other storage device to prevent data loss. The built-in lithium battery pack of the instrument is recommended to undergo regular charging and discharging cycles (such as once every three months) to maintain battery activity when not working on site for a long time. If not used for a long time, the battery should also be charged to a certain level and stored in a dry and cool place.
5、 Periodic inspection and recording
Establish a daily maintenance logbook to record each maintenance operation, reagent replacement date, electrode cleaning situation, abnormal phenomena, and handling methods. This helps track the status of the instrument and provides a basis for troubleshooting when problems arise. For situations where high precision is required, certified reference materials can be used regularly to verify the accuracy of the instrument's results.
Standardized and meticulous daily maintenance is the foundation for ensuring the stable operation and accurate data of portable trace moisture analyzers. By cultivating good habits, not only can the failure rate be effectively reduced, but the continuity and reliability of analysis work can also be guaranteed.
