Polypropylene material undergoes oxidative degradation at high temperatures, and thermogravimetric analysis can determine the temperature at which 5% mass loss occurs (T5%) by recording its mass change curve with temperature (TG curve) - this indicator directly reflects the upper limit of the material's heat resistance. By screening materials through thermogravimetric analysis, the heat-resistant life of automotive engine peripheral components can be extended by more than twice. ​

In the field of catalyst research and development, thermogravimetric analyzers can accurately capture changes in material activity. Load type metal catalysts may become deactivated due to carbon deposition during use. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that when heated in an air atmosphere, carbon deposition will burn in a specific temperature range (usually 400-600 ℃), resulting in a sudden decrease in mass on the TG curve. Its differential thermogravimetric curve (DTG) can also distinguish different types of carbon deposits, providing guidance for catalyst regeneration. ​
In the food and pharmaceutical industry, thermogravimetric analysis can be used for detecting the purity and moisture content of ingredients. The drying process of traditional Chinese medicine extracts requires strict control of moisture content. The mass loss rate of the thermogravimetric analyzer during the 105 ℃ constant temperature stage can accurately reflect the free moisture in the sample. For solid oral preparations, thermogravimetric analysis can also evaluate their hygroscopicity in different humidity environments, providing a basis for packaging material selection. ​
From industrial materials to biomedicine, thermogravimetric analyzers have become the "gold standard" for material thermal characteristic analysis due to their keen ability to capture quality changes, providing scientific support for product quality improvement and new material research and development. ​
