As the core equipment for storing hazardous chemicals in laboratories, the maintenance quality of acid-base cabinets directly affects operational safety and equipment lifespan. Scientific maintenance needs to be integrated into daily monitoring, periodic maintenance, and emergency preparedness. The key maintenance points are analyzed from multiple dimensions below.
Build protective barriers for daily basic maintenance. Before daily use, the cabinet should be surrounded to observe for any abnormal corrosion marks, with a focus on checking whether salt crystals have precipitated at the joints. If acid mist condensate is attached to the transparent window, it should be immediately wiped with a microfiber cloth soaked in a weak alkaline solution to avoid crystal solidification and scratching the surface. After the door is closed, it needs to be gently pushed to test the sealing. If it feels loose, the position of the magnetic suction strip needs to be adjusted to ensure that the sealing level meets the standard. The volatile gas alarm inside the cabinet is calibrated to zero daily to prevent sensor passivation from causing delayed warning.
Monthly deep cleaning focuses on anti-corrosion strengthening. After power failure, remove the removable layer board and use a corrosion-resistant scraper to remove the crystals that have settled at the bottom. Be careful to move gently to avoid scratching the epoxy coating. After spraying neutral descaling agent on the inner and outer walls, let it stand for a moment, and then rinse with a large amount of deionized water until the pH test paper shows neutral. After reverse blowing, the fan filter still needs to be soaked in diluted sodium hypochlorite solution for disinfection to eliminate residual acid mist. Inject hot water into the drainage pipe to test its smoothness, and use a flexible strip to clear any bends.
Quarterly functional verification ensures system reliability. Set up gradient temperature and humidity environment simulation conditions to test the response speed and dehumidification efficiency of the temperature control module. The automatic exhaust system needs to be connected to an anemometer to verify whether the air exchange rate meets the standard requirements. Conduct actual water discharge testing on the emergency rinsing device, check the outlet pressure and duration, and synchronously confirm the effectiveness of the anti backflow design of the drainage pipeline. Manual triggering test of explosion-proof pressure relief valve to confirm the sensitivity and reliability of the reset mechanism.
Annual comprehensive maintenance improves safety factor. Dismantle the lighting fixtures and replace the explosion-proof tubes, and check whether the circuit sleeves are aging and cracking. The anti-static grounding wire needs to measure the ground resistance value to ensure it is less than 4 ohms. Conduct stress testing on the load-bearing structure of the cabinet and correct the diagonal of the deformed door frame. When replacing all sealing strips, priority should be given to using perfluororubber material, and a small amount of silicone grease should be applied during installation for easy adjustment.
Special maintenance scenarios to deal with unexpected situations. After the strong acid sputtering accident, immediately activate the emergency procedure, cover and neutralize with sodium bicarbonate powder before cleaning. When storing high concentration hydrofluoric acid for a long time, an additional ceramic lined tray needs to be installed. Strengthen the dehumidification frequency during the rainy season to prevent excessive humidity inside the cabinet from accelerating the corrosion of metal components. Severe vibrations are strictly prohibited during relocation and reorganization. Before transportation, the shelves must be fixed and filled with shock-absorbing materials.
A standardized maintenance process should be documented in writing, including the time, content, and replacement parts model for each maintenance. Operators must wear chemical protective clothing, acid and alkali resistant gloves, and goggles. When electrical work is involved, two people must cooperate. Through systematic maintenance, the acid-base cabinet can be kept in the best protective state, effectively extending its service life to more than ten years and building a solid safety defense line for the laboratory.
