THz Koleos detector is a radiation detection device based on pyroelectric effect and gas discharge principle, mainly used for detecting electromagnetic waves in the terahertz band.
1、 The basic principle of THz high rise box detector:
1. Terahertz band characteristics
Terahertz waves are located between microwave and infrared, with penetrability (such as for non-polar materials), low energy (without damaging biological tissues), and spectral fingerprint characteristics, widely used in imaging, communication, and sensing fields.
2. Core principle of Gaolai Box
Pyroelectric effect: Some crystals generate charges when temperature changes, which are used to convert absorbed radiation signals into electrical signals.
Gas discharge mechanism:
The detector is filled with inert gases (such as argon and xenon) inside and equipped with electrodes.
When terahertz radiation is absorbed, the gas temperature rises, causing local ionization and triggering discharge current.
The magnitude of the current is proportional to the absorbed radiation intensity, which is collected and converted into an electrical signal through electrodes.
3. Structural design
Absorption cavity: usually a conical or parabolic structure, used to focus terahertz waves and enhance absorption efficiency.
Sensitive component: Pyroelectric crystal or gas discharge unit, responsible for converting radiated energy into detectable electrical signals.
Readout circuit: including preamplifier, filter, and data acquisition module, used for signal processing and output.
2、 The working mechanism of THz Gaolai Box detector:
1. Radiation absorption and heating
Terahertz waves enter the detector through an optical window and are absorbed by the gas or pyroelectric material inside the absorption chamber, causing a local temperature rise.
2. Signal conversion
Pyroelectric mode: Temperature changes cause changes in crystal charge distribution, generating voltage signals related to radiation intensity.
Gas discharge mode: Temperature rise causes gas ionization, and the discharge current is captured by the electrode and converted into a voltage signal.
3. Signal readout and processing
The weak signal is amplified by a low-noise amplifier, filtered and analog-to-digital converted before output, and can be used for real-time monitoring or data analysis.
3、 Technical features of THz Gaolai Box detector:
1. High sensitivity
It has high absorption efficiency for terahertz radiation and can detect power as low as microwatts.
2. Wide dynamic range
By optimizing gas pressure and electrode design, it is possible to detect a wide range of radiation intensities from weak signals to strong signals.
3. Working at room temperature
No need for low-temperature cooling system, relying on gas discharge or pyroelectric effect to operate at room temperature, reducing equipment complexity.
4. Quick response
The response time is usually in the millisecond range, suitable for dynamic scenarios such as terahertz imaging or communication.
