Safety Guidelines for Esterification Reactor Operation: From Pressure Control to Emergency Response Procedures for Abnormalities
Date: 2025-08-19Read: 1
1Esterification reactorPressure Control Standards
Design safety redundancy
Equipped with dual pressure relief devices (bursting disc+safety valve combination), the design pressure of the bursting disc is 1.25 times the rated pressure, and the opening pressure of the safety valve is 1.05-1.1 times the design pressure.
Example: If the design pressure of the reaction vessel is 1.0 MPa, the opening pressure of the safety valve should be set to 1.05-1.1 MPa, and the rupture pressure of the rupture disc should be 1.25 MPa.
Real time pressure monitoring
Adopting a triple pressure detection system: pressure gauge (accuracy ± 0.5%), pressure sensor (accuracy ± 0.2%), and intelligent warning module.
Set pressure anomaly threshold: Every 30 seconds when the pressure rises above 0.1 MPa, the system automatically triggers an audible and visual alarm and initiates an emergency pressure relief program.
Pressure regulation operation
During the pressurization reaction, the intake volume is precisely controlled by a nitrogen flowmeter (accuracy ± 1%) to avoid pressure fluctuations exceeding ± 5%.
When releasing pressure, prioritize opening the back pressure valve (response time ≤ 0.5 seconds). If the pressure continues to rise, immediately open the safety valve and manually release the pressure.
2、 Temperature control specifications
Layered temperature control system
Heating sleeve: Control the temperature of the outer wall of the reaction vessel with an error of ± 2 ℃.
Heating coil: Adjust the liquid phase temperature inside the kettle with an error of ± 1 ℃.
External heat exchanger: maintains stable temperature of the circulating medium with an error of ± 0.5 ℃.
Temperature rise rate limit
During the exothermic reaction stage, the temperature rise rate is ≤ 15 ℃/min. When the threshold is exceeded, emergency refrigerant (such as liquid nitrogen or frozen saline) is automatically injected.
Example: In esterification reaction, if the temperature rise rate reaches 18 ℃/min, the system will start refrigerant injection within 10 seconds and reduce the temperature rise rate to 12 ℃/min within 30 seconds.
Temperature protection device
Platinum resistance temperature measurement: response time ≤ 3 seconds, covering the entire area inside the kettle.
Fuse plug interlock: When the temperature exceeds the set value (such as 280 ℃), the fuse plug melts within 5 seconds, forcibly cutting off the heating power supply.
3、 Safety specifications for mixing systems
Mixing speed control
Set the upper limit of stirring torque (≤ 120% of rated value) based on the viscosity of the reactants (such as 20-800 mPa · s).
Example: If the rated torque of the mixer is 100 N · m, the actual operating torque should be controlled within ≤ 120 N · m to avoid equipment damage caused by overload.
Anti static design
The grounding resistance of the mixing shaft is ≤ 4 Ω, and the flange cross resistance is<0.03 Ω to prevent static electricity accumulation and explosion.
Regularly check the grounding resistance (once a month) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Mechanical interlocking device
The quick opening kettle cover is equipped with mechanical interlocking, which can only be unlocked when the pressure is ≤ 0.01 MPa, to prevent material splashing caused by opening under high pressure.
4、 Abnormal emergency response process
Emergency response to abnormal pressure
Overpressure treatment: Immediately stop heating and feeding, open the vent valve to release pressure; If the pressure continues to rise, manually open the safety valve and evacuate personnel to a safe area (radius ≥ 50 meters).
Negative pressure treatment: Check if the vacuum system is leaking, close all feed valves, start the nitrogen vacuum breaking program, and restore normal pressure.
Emergency response to leakage
Acidic substance leakage: Neutralize with sodium bicarbonate (ratio 1:1.5), and collect the residue with adsorbent material (such as diatomaceous earth) after neutralization.
Alkaline substance leakage: Use boric acid solution (5% concentration) to spray and neutralize, and then wrap the leaked substance with anti-seepage film after neutralization.
Leakage of organic solvent: close all fire sources, cover them with foam to put out a fire (Class B fire), and do not use direct water to put out a fire.
Emergency response to equipment malfunction
Mixing system malfunction: Immediately stop the reaction, maintain mixing through a backup mixer (such as magnetic stirring), and repair the main mixer.
Heating system failure: Switch to a backup heating source (such as an electric heating rod). If it cannot be restored, start the emergency cooling program and terminate the reaction.
Personnel protection and rescue
Hydrofluoric acid burn: apply calcium gluconate gel (covering area ≥ 2 times of the burn area) within 5 minutes, and then send to the hospital for treatment.
High temperature burns: Immediately rinse with flowing cold water for 15 minutes, cover with sterile gauze to avoid infection.
5Esterification reactorPost operation safety check
Equipment cleaning
After the reaction is complete, rinse the kettle body three times with distilled water, each time for at least 5 minutes, to ensure that there are no residues.
Empty the process pipeline and use compressed air (pressure ≤ 0.2 MPa) to blow away residual liquid.
Safety device verification
Verify safety accessories such as pressure gauges, safety valves, thermometers, etc. every month to ensure that the error is within the allowable range (such as pressure gauge error ≤± 1.6%).
Conduct stress testing annually (test pressure is 1.25 times the design pressure, hold pressure for 30 minutes without leakage).
Record and Report
Detailed records of operating parameters (temperature, pressure, stirring speed, etc.), abnormal situations, and handling measures, with an archive period of ≥ 5 years.
When a safety accident occurs, report to the enterprise's safety management department within 24 hours and cooperate with the investigation and analysis.
