Date: 2023-05-15Read: 2

The Chinese Journal of Catalysis is the journal of the Catalysis Society of the Chinese Chemical Society, sponsored by the Chinese Chemical Society and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Founded in 1980, with a total of 12 issues (monthly) throughout the year, it is now an English publication (to cater to domestic readers, it also publishes an expanded version of Chinese abstracts for English articles). This magazine is published by Science Press and Elsevier Press. All articles are published in electronic format on Elsevier's ScienceDirect online platform, and paper journals are publicly available both domestically and internationally. The Journal of Catalysis mainly reports on the latest fundamental and applied research achievements in disciplines such as energy, environment, new materials, heterogeneous catalysis, homogeneous catalysis, biocatalysis, photocatalysis, organic chemistry, electrocatalysis, surface chemistry, catalytic kinetics, etc.

Paper Introduction

The paper of Professor Zeng Jie's research group was published in the journal Chinese Journal of Catalysis, with an impact factor of 12.92.

studiedSupported metal catalysts typically undergo changes such as phase transition, sintering, surface reconstruction, and dissociation into single atoms during the catalytic processThis structural evolution can be induced not only by temperature, but also by the adsorbed species generated by the reaction. However, structural changes have a dual impact on catalysts, which may result in the formation of new active sites or catalyst deactivation. Therefore, it is hoped that the catalyst undergoes structural evolution to adapt to the reaction environment during the reaction, thereby forming more efficient active sites. Revealing the evolution path of specific catalysts is of great significance for the design and improvement of catalysts.

This article describes the loading of RhOx clusters onto Al2O3 using the impregnation calcination method. However, the catalyst does not exhibit reaction activity in the initial stage of hydroformylation, but it is induced by CO during the reaction process and evolves in situ into catalytically active defect sites and Rh single atoms. The activated catalyst achieved a specific activity of 3.0 × 104 mol mol Rh-1 h-1 for the hydrogenation of propylene under the conditions of 110 ° C and 30 bar synthesis gas. Structural characterization and mechanistic studies have revealed two in-situ evolution pathways of Rh species: solid solid and solid-liquid solid. During the catalytic process, RhOx clusters are reduced by CO to form oxygen defects, allowing the surrounding Rh atoms to acquire the ability to adsorb CO. At the same time, Rh species dissolve into the solution under the action of the reaction substrate and solvent, and then partially adsorb back onto the carrier. This article not only provides an efficient catalyst for the hydrogenation of propylene, but also deepens the understanding of the dynamic evolution of catalysts.
