The main purpose and principle of the cross-linked cable outer sheath fault tester
Date: 2022-11-26Read: 22

110kV and above power cables are all single core cables, and the protective layer of a single core cable is an important component of the cable. The quality of its insulation directly affects the service life of the cable and the safe and reliable operation of the power grid.

The cross linked cable outer sheath fault tester is mainly used for voltage withstand testing of cross linked cable outer sheath, and can also be used to accurately locate outer sheath faults of single core cables, ground leakage faults in low-voltage cables, and pre locate outer sheath faults of high-voltage cables.
Cross linked cable outer sheath fault testerTesting principle:
The detection of faults in the outer sheath of single core cross-linked cables, like the detection of faults in power cables, generally involves two steps: "distance measurement" and "positioning". The initial measurement (distance measurement) of the grounding fault of the ultra-high voltage outer sheath is generally carried out using the voltage drop method and the bridge method. The bridge method is accurate and easy to use, but it cannot test multi-point grounding faults or three-phase cable chain grounding connections. However, the pressure drop method can compensate for the above problems. The grounding fault of the outer sheath is located using the step voltage method, by searching for the low point of the electric potential in the soil through two grounding rods and locating it. The test current flowing into the ground at the fault point causes a transition point between positive and negative voltage peaks. When approaching the fault point, the step voltage increases, and after crossing the fault, the step voltage decreases and the polarity changes. When directly above the ground fault point, the pointer stops at zero position, which is the accurate location of the cable fault point.
Purpose:
The distance to the fault point of the outer sheath of the high-voltage cable after rough side laying;
Used to locate the fault point of the outer sheath of the high-voltage cable after installation;
DC withstand voltage test for the outer sheath of ultra-high voltage cables;
Can complete the distance measurement of main insulation faults in cables of various levels;
Can locate faults in buried cables below 10KV.
