Operation method of large bore thin cylinder
Date: 2025-09-24Read: 27
The operation of large bore thin cylinder needs to take into account its structural characteristics and safety regulations. The following are the key operating methods and precautions:
1、 Preparation before installation
Check the cylinder and accessories
Confirm that the cylinder model, cylinder diameter, stroke, and load requirements match, and check whether the piston rod, seals, connecting rods, and other components are intact, without wear or deformation.
Clean the dirt and sediment on the surface of the cylinder to ensure that the installation surface is flat and free of impurities.
Select installation location
The cylinder should be installed near the working face to reduce pipeline length and pressure loss.
The installation direction should be consistent with the direction of action of the cylinder to avoid lateral force causing eccentric wear of the seal or bending of the piston rod.
For earring type or ear shaft type cylinders, ensure that the swing plane coincides with the load swing plane to prevent misalignment.
Connecting pipelines
Use appropriate specifications of joints and pipes to ensure good sealing and prevent air leakage or seepage.
Clean the dirt inside the pipeline before connection to prevent impurities from entering the cylinder chamber and damaging the seals.
For ultra long stroke cylinders, intermediate supports or guiding devices need to be installed to prevent the piston rod from sagging or vibrating due to its own weight.
2、 Operating standards
Air source pressure matching
Ensure that the pressure of the gas source is consistent with the rated pressure of the cylinder (such as 0.7MPa), to avoid excessive pressure causing damage to the cylinder or insufficient pressure affecting operational efficiency.
Before use, check the stability of the gas source and eliminate the influence of voltage fluctuations or impurities in the gas source on the cylinder.
Align the load with the axis of the piston rod
When connecting the load, the axis of the piston rod should be consistent with the direction of load movement to prevent abnormal wear of the cylinder surface, liner, or piston rod caused by lateral forces.
Avoid the piston rod from bearing biased or lateral loads, and use a guiding device to disperse the force if necessary.
speed adjustment
By adjusting the cylinder speed through a one-way throttle valve, the throttle valve should gradually open from the fully closed state to the desired speed, with no more than the maximum number of rotations.
When installed horizontally, exhaust throttling is used for smoother speed; When installing vertically, intake throttling is used. First, connect the load and adjust the output pressure of the pressure reducing valve to approach the specified speed, and then fine tune the throttle valve.
Buffer settings
If the energy of cylinder motion cannot be fully absorbed by itself (such as in high-speed or heavy load scenarios), it is necessary to add an external buffer mechanism (such as a hydraulic buffer) or design a buffer circuit.
When using an adjustable buffer cylinder, open all buffer adjustment valves before operation and gradually increase the damping to a satisfactory state (clockwise rotation increases damping, counterclockwise decrease).
safe operation
Immediately cut off the gas source when encountering resistance during the piston stroke to prevent cylinder damage or accidents.
When adjusting or stopping the cylinder, first cut off the air source and wait for the cylinder to release pressure before operating.
The temperature of the high-frequency action cylinder barrel is high, avoid touching it; The cylinder that stops halfway should be prevented from leaking and causing accidents due to movement.
Add a protective cover to the driven object, and design an anti pinch device between the driving and fixing components during impact action.
3、 Monitoring during operation
performance check
After the first operation or maintenance, run the cylinder 2-5 times under working pressure without load to check for any abnormal noise, air leakage, or stuck movement.
Regularly check whether the connections of various parts of the cylinder are loose and whether the seals are leaking during operation, and promptly repair any problems found.
Load monitoring
For high-speed moving cylinders, reduce the load rate to decrease the charging and discharging impedance; For low-speed motion cylinders, if the flow rate is small and makes speed control and oil mist lubrication difficult, a gas-liquid converter or a gas-liquid damping cylinder can be used.
4、 Maintenance and upkeep
regular cleaning
Clean the surface dirt and sediment of the cylinder, maintain cleanliness, and prevent corrosion.
Lubrication Management
Lubricate the cylinder according to the specified time and method in the manual. For oil-free lubricated cylinders, regularly check the operation of the oil mist device and add oil in a timely manner.
The tail single ear or middle swing cylinder needs to be regularly lubricated with oil to the tailstock or swing position to prevent dry wear.
Replacement of vulnerable parts
Regularly inspect the wear of vulnerable parts such as seals, piston rods, and connecting rods, and develop replacement cycles based on usage frequency and environmental conditions (such as once every 6 months).
Long term storage
Store in a ventilated and dry warehouse to prevent moisture and rust; Trial under no-load conditions before installation, confirm normal operation before installation.
