The methods to extend the lifespan of microwave digestion equipment through daily maintenance and selection of consumables are as follows:
1、 Daily maintenance strategy
Environmental Management
Temperature and humidity control: Maintain the laboratory temperature at 15-30 ℃ and relative humidity below 70% to avoid condensation inside the instrument or corrosion of metal parts.
Cleanliness maintenance: Regularly clean the dust around the instrument, and prohibit spraying corrosive gases (such as acid mist) nearby. An air purifier can be equipped.
Shock absorption and ventilation: The instrument should be placed on a stable table, away from electromagnetic interference sources (such as centrifuges), and ensure that the exhaust channel is unobstructed.
Component cleaning and inspection
Shell and cavity: Wipe the shell with a dust-free cloth daily, and clean the inner wall of the furnace cavity with a neutral cleaner (such as a 5% alcohol solution) weekly to avoid acid residue corroding the stainless steel liner.
Rotary table and tray: Remove residue after each use, disassemble the tray every month to clean the bearings and apply a small amount of lubricating grease (such as Vaseline).
Exhaust system: Check if the exhaust outlet is blocked every month, clean the dust on the fan blades, and ensure heat dissipation efficiency.
Sensor calibration: Use a standard thermometer to calibrate the actual temperature of the furnace chamber every year (with an error of<± 5 ℃), and verify the linearity of the pressure sensor through a standard pressure generator.
Operating Specifications
Sample loading: The digestion tank should be symmetrically placed on the turntable, with a total mass difference of no more than 10%, to avoid vibration overheating caused by imbalance.
Reagent addition: The volume of acid solution should not exceed 2/3 of the capacity of the inner tank to prevent liquid overflow and blockage of the pressure relief hole during the digestion process.
Cooling program: After the digestion is completed, wait for the furnace chamber to cool down to below 60 ℃ before opening the door to avoid instrument deformation caused by temperature differences.
2、 Consumables selection and management
Inner and outer tanks
Inner tank (PTFE/TFM): Check for deformation, cracks, or darkening of color (signs of high-temperature aging) after each use. If the surface is rough, replace immediately.
Outer tank (PEEK or composite material): Regularly check the thread wear and sealing gasket hardening, and it is recommended to replace the sealing ring every six months.
Sealing ring and explosion-proof film
Sealing ring: Clean the residual acid or sample after each use to ensure no aging, deformation, or cracking. It is recommended to replace it every 6-12 months.
Explosion proof film: Observe whether it is damaged or dented. If the center bulge is obvious or perforated, it should be replaced immediately.
Other consumables
Magnetron: Avoid no-load operation, check the heat sink for dust accumulation every week, and clean it with compressed air if necessary.
High voltage circuit components: Check the insulation performance of high-voltage transformers, capacitors, etc. every quarter, and shut down for maintenance if discharge traces or abnormal responses are found.
Lubricating grease and cleaning agent: Choose specialized lubricating grease (such as DowCorningsEAlant) and neutral cleaning agent to avoid corrosion of components.
