Fluid Mechanics Experimental Teaching Equipment: Daily Maintenance and Calibration Standards
Date: 2025-11-12Read: 1
Experimental teaching equipment for fluid mechanicsThe Bernoulli equation experimental platform, Venturi flowmeter, Reynolds experimental device, etc. are the core carriers for conducting practical teaching, and their performance stability directly affects the accuracy of experimental data and teaching effectiveness. Establishing a standardized system of "classification maintenance, precise calibration, and closed-loop management" is the key to extending equipment lifespan and ensuring teaching quality.
Daily maintenance needs to be classified and implemented according to equipment structure, focusing on the core goals of "anti blocking, leak proof, and anti-corrosion". For the pipeline system, it is necessary to rinse it with clean water after each experiment, especially for parts that are prone to scaling such as pressure measuring tubes and throttling elements. A soft bristled brush combined with neutral detergent can be used to clean them to avoid pressure measurement deviation caused by mud, impurities, and blockages; After the experiment is completed, open the drainage valve to drain the remaining water in the pipeline, in order to prevent internal wall corrosion caused by frost cracking or long-term water accumulation in low-temperature environments. For power units, centrifugal pumps, fans, and other equipment, the lubricating oil level should be checked regularly, and the same type of lubricating oil should be replaced every semester. At the same time, the motor cooling fins should be cleaned to ensure that the temperature rise during operation does not exceed 40 ℃ and to avoid overload damage.
The maintenance of measuring instruments is the foundation of reliable data. Precision instruments such as pressure sensors and flow meters should be handled with care to avoid severe vibrations; Wipe surface stains with anhydrous ethanol and prohibit the use of corrosive solvents. Glass devices such as level gauges and U-shaped differential pressure gauges should be replaced in a timely manner if the scale is blurry or damaged. Dust covers should be installed during daily storage. The interfaces and cables of the data acquisition system need to be regularly sorted out, and the joints should be checked for looseness. Power on testing should be conducted quarterly to ensure stable signal transmission without interference.

Calibration work should follow the principle of "regular fixed-point, standard traceability" and be carried out periodically. Basic parameter calibration is conducted once a semester: for the flow calibration of the Bernoulli experimental platform, the standard volume method is used to calculate the actual flow by measuring the displacement over a certain period of time, and comparing it with the displayed value of the equipment. The error should be controlled within ± 2%; The calibration of the throttling coefficient of the Venturi flowmeter needs to be compared in series with the standard flowmeter to ensure that the coefficient deviation at different Reynolds numbers meets the teaching requirements. Precision instrument calibration is conducted once a year, and third-party metrology institutions are commissioned to verify pressure sensors, speedometers, etc., obtain calibration certificates, and immediately stop using unqualified equipment for maintenance.
The maintenance and emergency response of special scenarios require advance planning. For experimental devices containing oily fluids, specialized solvents should be used to clean the pipelines after the experiment, followed by rinsing with clean water to prevent oil film adhesion from affecting subsequent experiments; If there is a pipeline leak, the power source should be immediately turned off, the damaged sealing ring or pipe should be replaced, and a pressure test should be conducted after resealing. When the equipment is idle for a long time, it is necessary to cut off the power and drain the pipeline, apply anti rust oil on the surface of the metal parts, and store the precision instruments in a dry and constant temperature storage room.
establishExperimental teaching equipment for fluid mechanicsThe full lifecycle archive is a guarantee for standardized implementation, detailing the maintenance content, calibration data, fault conditions, and handling results of each maintenance. At the same time, clarify the person responsible for the operation and provide equipment usage training to students before the experiment to avoid malfunctions caused by non-standard operations. Through scientific maintenance and precise calibration, it can not only ensure the smooth implementation of experimental teaching, but also cultivate students' rigorous experimental attitude and operational habits.
