Elaborate on the advantages and disadvantages of ultrasonic level gauges
Date: 2017-12-20Read: 0

  Ultrasonic level gaugeIt is a digital level gauge controlled by a microprocessor. In measurement, pulsed ultrasonic waves are emitted by sensors (transducers), and the sound waves are reflected by the surface of the object and received by the same sensor. They are then converted into electrical signals by piezoelectric crystal ring magnetostrictive devices. And the distance between the sensor and the object being measured is calculated based on the time between the emission and reception of sound waves.

  Ultrasonic level gaugeadvantage:
1. Easy installation and maintenance, simple reading;
2. It has safety, cleanliness, high precision, long service life, stability and reliability;
3. Belonging to non-contact measurement, the accuracy is relatively low due to the influence of liquid viscosity, density, etc
  Ultrasonic level gaugeDisadvantages:
There should be no obstacles under the sound waves. Ultrasonic level gauge is based on the principle of sound wave reflection, and obstacles can affect the emission of ultrasonic waves, resulting in signal loss;
2. Ultrasonic level gauge testing is prone to blind spots;
3. It is not suitable to measure pressure vessels. Pressure mainly affects the probe, and there is also a certain relationship between pressure and temperature. T=KP (K is a constant), so changes in pressure affect changes in temperature, which in turn affect changes in sound velocity;
In actual measurement, temperature can also cause measurement errors, and changes in temperature can lead to changes in sound velocity. Advanced measurement systems, including temperature sensors and system functions, can automatically compensate for the impact of temperature. In practical applications, due to the temperature difference between the surrounding environment of the probe and the measured medium, the measurement system will choose a temperature sensor combined with the probe and an external temperature sensor separated from the probe for temperature compensation;
5. Dust is a type of ultrasonic level gauge that has a significant impact on measurement. The impact of dust environment on sound speed is very small, but the attenuation of sound waves is obvious. Therefore, it should not be used in such situations;
6. The ultrasonic level gauge cannot be used in the situation with water mist, media that is easy to produce a large amount of foam and volatile media, which is easy to absorb sound waves or interfere with sound wave emission, resulting in signal loss and precision decline.
