Oil spectrometer detects the content of wear elements, pollutants, or additive elements dissolved or suspended in lubricating oil. Determine the degree and location of equipment wear based on the content of various elements. Equipment wear is the foundation of oil testing. Whether it is testing for lubricant aging, lubricant contamination, or other aspects, it is hoped to avoid equipment wear and tear. Elemental analysis is the starting point for oil monitoring. In 1941, American trains were upgraded from steam engines to internal combustion engines, which had various complex movements such as high heat, rotation, and reciprocating motion. So the train failure rate is very high, so the US Railway Administration introduced elemental analysis for detection, to predict equipment wear and reduce the failure of train internal combustion engines.
Different devices and components have different elements, so the location of wear can be determined through element analysis. For example, the piston is composed of iron and selenium. The piston ring is composed of chromium and iron. If the content of iron element increases from 30ppm to 150ppm, the wear and tear of the equipment will definitely intensify. If there is also an increase in selenium content, the location of wear can be determined.
