Tilted techniqueThe selection of the accuracy level of the tension spring tensile testing machine is not directly related to the material of the tension spring (the core determining factors are the test index tolerance, range, and industry standards), but the material will affect the testing requirements Indirect dimensions, such as elastic modulus, test stability, and range adaptability, indirectly affect the selection logic of accuracy levels. Starting from the core characteristics of materials, we will analyze their indirect impact on accuracy selection and practical judgment methods
1、 The core reason why material does not directly determine the accuracy level
The basis for dividing accuracy levels isThe measurement error range of force/displacement (such as ± 0.2% FS force error corresponding to 0.2 level), and the essence of the tension spring material (such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel wire, plastic, etc.) is to affect its mechanical properties (strength, elasticity, stiffness), rather than directly requiring a specific accuracy level. For example:
Both are stainless steel tension springs, if used for precision electronics(K value tolerance ± 1%), 0.1 level equipment needs to be selected; If used for ordinary doors and windows (k value tolerance ± 5%), select level 0.5;
Both are carbon steel tension springs, used in aerospace grade high-precision scenarios(The tolerance of k value ± 0.5% requires a level of 0.1, while for qualitative testing in the toy industry (only to determine whether it is broken), a level of 1.0 is sufficient.
Visible: The same material may have different testing requirements, and the choice of accuracy level may vary greatly; Different materials, if the testing requirements are consistent, the accuracy level can be the same.
2、 The selection of material for accuracy level Indirect Impact "(Key Scenarios)
The material indirectly affects the mechanical properties of the tension spring by changing its properties Test range, data stability, and error sensitivity, which in turn affect the adaptability of accuracy levels. The following is an analysis of the impact of four typical materials:
Material type of tension spring |
Core mechanical properties |
Indirect impact on testing |
Suggestions for selecting accuracy level |
High elasticity alloys (such as piano steel wire, phosphor bronze wire) |
High elastic modulus(200-210GPa)、 High stiffness (high k value), small deformation range (≤ 5%), stable mechanical properties |
1. The testing force is concentrated in the small and medium range (such as 10N-500N), and it is necessary to avoid amplifying relative errors in small ranges; 2. The stiffness coefficient k value tolerance is usually strict (such as ± 1%~± 2%), and is sensitive to force/displacement accuracy |
priority selection0.1/0.2 level, paired with "small range full configuration" models (such as 500N range instead of 2000N), to ensure that the error within the effective range meets the standard |
plain carbon steel/Stainless steel (such as 65Mn, 304 stainless steel) |
Medium elastic modulus(190-200GPa)、 Moderate stiffness (moderate k value), moderate deformation range (5% -10%), and good batch consistency |
1. The testing power covers small to medium large ranges (50N-5000N); 2. Industrial grade tolerance requirements (k value ± 3%~± 5%), with moderate precision requirements |
General scenario selectionLevel 0.5; Select level 0.2 for automotive/mechanical scenarios (k value ± 2%); Large range (≥ 5000N) can be selected at level 0.5 |
plastic/Rubber (such as nylon, silicone rubber) |
Low elastic modulus(0.1-10GPa)、 Low stiffness (low k value), large deformation range (≥ 10%), and mechanical properties easily affected by temperature |
1. The testing force is mostly small range (≤ 100N), and the force value changes smoothly during the deformation process, requiring higher force resolution; 2. Poor repeatability (affected by temperature/humidity), requiring the equipment to have stable force value collection capability |
Must choose0.1 level/0.2 level (force resolution ≤ 0.1N), paired with high-precision displacement sensors (error)less than or equal to± 0.01mm) to avoid error amplification caused by gradual changes in force values |
Low strength alloy/Copper alloys (such as brass, aluminum magnesium alloys) |
Low elastic modulus(70-100GPa)、 Low stiffness (low k value), low ultimate tensile strength (≤ 500N), and easy plastic deformation |
1. The testing force should be concentrated in a small range (≤ 500N) and the elastic limit should be accurately captured to avoid misjudgment of plastic deformation; 2. The inflection point of the force displacement curve is not obvious, requiring equipment with high sampling rate and high-precision measurement |
selectLevel 0.2 and above, requiring equipment sampling rate ≥ 1000Hz (to quickly capture changes in force values), and repeatability error of force valuesless than or equal to0.1% FS |
3、 Material related selection key: avoid Error sensitivity pitfalls
Testing errors caused by tension springs of different materials Different levels of sensitivity require targeted matching of accuracy levels, otherwise it may result in test data failure:
High stiffness material (such as piano wire): stiffnessWhen the k value is high (such as k=100N/mm), small displacement errors can lead to significant deviations in k value calculation - for example, the displacement error of 0.5 level equipment is ± 0.05mm, and when testing 1mm deformation, the displacement error accounts for 5%, resulting in a final k value errorgreater than or equal toIf the material requires a tolerance of ± 2% for the k value, a 0.2 level equipment must be selected (with a displacement error of ± 0.02mm, accounting for 2% of the error).
Low stiffness material (such as plastic): stiffnessA low k value (such as k=1N/mm) results in a gentle change in force value (such as a deformation of 10mm and only subjected to 10N force). A force value error of ± 0.1N (10N × 1%) for low precision equipment (such as 1.0 level) can cause a k value error of ± 1%. However, due to the poor repeatability of the material itself (such as temperature effects causing k value fluctuations of ± 3%), if a 0.1 level equipment (force value error of ± 0.01N) is selected, it will not be able to offset the material's own fluctuations. In this case, choosing 0.2 level is sufficient (balancing accuracy and cost).
Materials that are prone to plastic deformation (such as aluminum magnesium alloy): The elastic limit is close to the critical point of plastic deformation and requires precise measurement If the accuracy level of the force displacement relationship in the elastic stage is insufficient (such as 0.5), plastic deformation may be misjudged as elastic deformation, resulting in incorrect calculation of the k value. Therefore, it is necessary to choose a level of 0.2 or above to ensure that the force/displacement data can accurately distinguish between the elastic and plastic stages.
4、 Practical decision-making process: Material→ Mechanical properties → Accuracy requirements → Grade selection
Clarify the material of the tension springDerive its mechanical properties (elastic modulus, stiffness range, ultimate tensile strength, deformation capacity);
Determine the testing range based on mechanical properties (such as plastic tension springs)→ Small range ≤ 100N; Carbon steel tension spring → Medium range 500N-5000N);
Combining industry standards/Product requirements, determine core indicator tolerances (such as k-value tolerance ± 1%/± 2%/± 5%);
press Matching accuracy level of "range+tolerance" (refer to the previous table), while considering the sensitivity of materials to errors (high stiffness → higher accuracy, low stiffness → balance accuracy and cost).
Example:
Material: Piano steel wire (high elasticity alloy,k=200N/mm, Ultimate tensile strength of 300N);
Industry: Precision Electronics(K value tolerance ± 1%);
Deduction: The testing range needs to cover10N-300N (small range), k-value tolerance ± 1%, required force value errorless than or equal to± 0.3N (300N × 0.1%), displacement errorless than or equal to±0.005mm;
Conclusion: Select1000N range (testing force at 30% -80% range), 0.1 level equipment.
summary
There is no direct correspondence between the material of the tension spring and the selection of accuracy level, but it will be influenced by The selection is indirectly influenced by factors such as testing range, stiffness tolerance requirements, and error sensitivity. The core logic is: material determines mechanical properties → mechanical properties determine testing requirements (range, tolerance, stability) → testing requirements determine accuracy level.
No need to worry about selection What grade does the material correspond to? "Instead, first clarify the" range "and" index tolerance "of the test through the material, and then match the accuracy grade based on error sensitivity - materials with high stiffness, small range, and strict tolerance (such as piano wire and plastic) should be prioritized for 0.1/0.2 grade; Materials with medium stiffness, medium range, and ordinary tolerances (such as carbon steel and stainless steel) can be selected at level 0.5; Materials with low precision requirements (such as plastic for toys) can be selected at level 1.0.
