Online hydrogen generatorAs the core gas supply unit of gas chromatographs, fuel cells and other equipment, it gradually replaces traditional high-pressure hydrogen gas cylinders with the advantages of "production and use, controllable purity, safety and efficiency", and is widely used in chemical, environmental protection, biomedicine and other fields. Its technological core revolves around four dimensions: efficient hydrogen production, precise purification, stable energy supply, and safety control. The collaborative optimization of technologies in each link determines the overall performance of the equipment.
The core hydrogen production principle and technological path determine the gas production efficiency. At present, the mainstream technological paths are divided into two categories: electrolytic water hydrogen production and methanol reforming hydrogen production. Electrolytic water hydrogen production (also divided into alkaline electrolysis and proton exchange membrane electrolysis) uses pure water or alkaline solution as raw materials to generate hydrogen through electrolysis reaction. Among them, proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology has become a popular choice in the laboratory and precision instrument fields due to its high electrolysis efficiency (up to 70% -85%), high gas purity (initial purity ≥ 99.999%), and low energy consumption (about 4.5-5.5 kWh/Nm ³ H ₂); Methanol reforming to produce hydrogen is achieved through the catalytic reforming reaction of methanol and water, which is suitable for large-scale industrial gas supply scenarios. The gas production rate is fast, but additional purification modules are required. Both technological paths need to address the issue of "raw material conversion rate" by optimizing electrode materials (such as using platinum based catalysts for PEM electrolysis) and reaction temperature (about 200-300 ℃ for methanol reforming) to improve hydrogen production efficiency.
Purification and pressure stabilization technology are key to ensuring the quality of gas supply. Although the initial purity of hydrogen production through electrolysis of water is high, there may still be trace amounts of impurities such as water and oxygen, which need to be processed through multi-stage purification modules: the first stage uses molecular sieve drying dehydration, and the second stage uses palladium membrane diffusion purification (palladium membrane only allows hydrogen gas to permeate, which can increase the purity to above 99.9999%), meeting the strict requirements of gas chromatography and other equipment for hydrogen purity. In terms of supply pressure stability, the equipment is equipped with high-precision pressure sensors and PID control systems to monitor the exhaust pressure in real time (with a control accuracy of ± 0.001MPa). By adjusting the electrolysis current or valve opening, it can cope with the instantaneous hydrogen consumption fluctuations of downstream equipment and avoid pressure fluctuations affecting detection accuracy or equipment operation.
The security control system is the core guarantee for online operation.Online hydrogen generatorBuilt in multiple safety protection mechanisms: firstly, water shortage protection for raw materials. When the liquid level in the water tank is below the threshold, the shutdown program is automatically triggered to avoid dry burning and damage to the electrolytic cell; The second is pressure overload protection, with a safety valve and pressure switch installed at the outlet to automatically release pressure and sound an alarm when overpressure occurs; The third is hydrogen leakage monitoring. Some models are equipped with hydrogen sensitive sensors. When the leakage concentration exceeds the standard, the power supply is immediately cut off and the exhaust device is activated. In addition, the equipment adopts a sealed structural design, and the electrolytic cell is physically isolated from the circuit unit to prevent electrical safety hazards caused by hydrogen gas leakage.
The trend of technological development focuses on low energy consumption and intelligence. The current research and development focus is on new catalysts (such as non platinum catalysts to reduce costs) and efficient membrane materials (to improve proton conduction efficiency) to further reduce energy consumption; Simultaneously integrating IoT technology, real-time monitoring of device operation status, fault warning, and remote parameter adjustment are achieved through remote monitoring modules, enhancing the convenience of operation and maintenance. In summary, the core technology of online hydrogen generators lies in the precise collaboration of each module, and its performance improvement will continue to drive the automation and precision development of downstream fields.
