Micro injector: a key equipment for precise analysis and laboratory efficiency improvement
Date: 2025-11-22Read: 0
At the forefront of research in chemical analysis, biological detection, and materials science, microsamplers are like 'masters of micro manipulation' in the laboratory, achieving precise manipulation of precious samples with micro or even nano level precision. This seemingly simple laboratory tool plays a crucial role in precision instrument analysis such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, etc. Its sampling accuracy directly affects the accuracy and reliability of the analysis results. From organic synthesis laboratories to biopharmaceutical research and development centers, microsamplers have become powerful assistants for researchers.
The core value of a microsampler lies in its sampling accuracy and repeatability. Modern microinjectors use high-precision machined precision plungers and high-quality sealing materials, combined with a precise calibration system, to achieve liquid sampling with 0.1 microliters (μ L) or even higher precision. This level of accuracy is crucial for processing precious samples (such as protein solutions, DNA extracts, precious metal catalysts, etc.) or samples with extremely low concentrations (such as environmental pollutants, drug metabolites, etc.). The precision manufactured plunger and syringe are designed to ensure that there is no sample residue during the sampling process. When combined with high elasticity and low adsorption materials (such as borosilicate glass or special plastics), the interaction between the sample and the instrument is minimized to ensure the authenticity of the analysis results. In terms of repeatability, the sampling error of high-quality microinjectors can be controlled within ± 1%, providing a reliable data basis for multiple measurements or series dilution experiments.
In terms of technical performance, modern microsamplers demonstrate diverse designs and intelligent features. The capacity range varies from 0.5 μ L to 1000 μ L, providing gradient selection to meet different analysis needs; Needle designs are diverse, including fixed needles and replaceable needles, made of materials such as stainless steel, quartz, and plastic, to adapt to different sample characteristics (such as corrosiveness, viscosity, or biocompatibility requirements); Specially designed injectors such as airtight, high-temperature resistant, or pre filled injectors are optimized for performance in specific application scenarios, such as gas samples, high-temperature reactions, or automatic injection systems. Ergonomic design enables operators to comfortably control the injection process, reduce fatigue, and improve operational accuracy.
Micro injectors play a crucial role in the fields of analytical chemistry and scientific research. In gas chromatography (GC) analysis, it precisely controls the injection volume of volatile organic compounds to ensure peak symmetry and accurate quantification; In liquid chromatography (LC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems, microinjectors accurately deliver samples into the mobile phase, laying the foundation for the separation and analysis of complex mixtures; In the pre-processing of mass spectrometry (MS) analysis, it achieves precise dilution and injection of samples, improving detection sensitivity; In biochemical experiments, such as enzyme activity determination, ELISA detection, and PCR reaction system preparation, microinjectors ensure the accuracy of reagent addition. Especially in high-throughput screening and combinatorial chemistry research, the accuracy and repeatability of microsamplers are crucial for ensuring the consistency of experimental data.
The operation and maintenance of microsamplers require strict adherence to professional standards. Before use, the appropriate injector type and needle size should be selected based on the nature of the sample to avoid adverse reactions between the sample and the instrument; When sampling, the plunger should be slowly and uniformly pushed forward to prevent the generation of bubbles from affecting the injection accuracy; Before injection, bubbles need to be expelled and the zero point calibrated to ensure accurate sampling volume; After use, the injector should be immediately cleaned with an appropriate solvent (such as methanol, isopropanol, or deionized water) to prevent sample residue from solidifying and blocking the syringe; Regularly use standard solutions to verify injection accuracy, and it is recommended to calibrate weekly or before analyzing each batch of samples. When stored for a long time, the injector should be disassembled and a small amount of silicone oil should be applied to protect the plunger, and stored in a dry and clean environment.
