The determination method of pen sodium ion detectors (such as HORIBA Horiba portable pen sodium ion meter Na-11) usually follows the following steps, which combine key steps such as calibration, sample measurement, and result reading to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement:
1、 Calibration steps
Ensure sensor cleanliness: Before calibration, make sure the sensor surface is clean and free of contamination. If there is oil or sediment, use deionized water to clean the sensor.
Prepare standard solution: Select a standard sodium ion solution suitable for the instrument range, such as low concentration (e.g. 10ppm) and high concentration (e.g. 1000ppm) standard solutions, for two-point calibration.
Perform calibration operation:
Drop a few drops of standard solution onto the sensor to ensure complete coverage.
Press the calibration button and wait for the instrument to display a prompt indicating calibration completion (such as a smiley face icon).
Wash off the standard solution with water and dry the sensor with a clean soft tissue.
Repeat the above steps and perform multi-point calibration using standard solutions of different concentrations to improve measurement accuracy.
2、 Sample measurement steps
Prepare samples: Take an appropriate amount of the sample to be tested, ensuring that the sample is uniform and free of bubbles. For viscous liquids, solids, or powder samples, sampling strips can be used to assist in measurement.
Measurement sample:
Fill the sample onto the sensor, ensuring that the sensor completely covers the sample.
Wait for the instrument to display a prompt indicating the completion of the measurement (such as a smiley face icon).
Read and record the sodium ion concentration value displayed by the instrument.
3、 Result reading and recording
Reading result: After the instrument displays the sodium ion concentration value, the result can be directly read and recorded. Some instruments also support converting measurement results to other units (such as pNa values).
Data recording: It is recommended to record the measurement results in the experimental report, including sample name, measurement time, measurement values, and other information, for subsequent analysis and comparison.
4、 Precautions
Sensor maintenance:
After the measurement is completed, clean the sensor with water to prepare for the next test.
After approximately 1500 measurements or when calibration cannot be completed, the sensor needs to be replaced.
Instrument maintenance:
Regularly check the battery level and sensor status of the instrument to ensure that it is in normal working condition.
Avoid using instruments under extreme temperature or humidity conditions to avoid affecting measurement accuracy.
Operating standards:
During the measurement process, avoid touching the sensor surface to avoid contaminating the sensor or affecting the measurement results.
Strictly follow the instrument manual to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the measurement steps.
