Water resource pollution is becoming increasingly severe, and water quality monitoring is developing rapidly
Date: 2019-01-14Read: 3

According to statistics from the Ministry of Supervision, water pollution incidents have occurred frequently in China in the past decade, with over 1700 water pollution accidents per year in recent years. In March last year, the Ministry of Environmental Protection released data stating that 250 million residential areas in China are close to key polluting enterprises and transportation arteries, and 280 million residents use unsafe drinking water. As for the situation of groundwater, according to media reports, 90% of the country's groundwater has been polluted to varying degrees, with 60% being severely polluted, and only 3% of basic clean urban groundwater. These data are truly alarming.

Faced with such a severe water pollution problem, water quality monitoring is naturally the top priority at present. Water quality monitoring can provide a large amount of data and information for environmental management, environmental science research, and other fields, playing a crucial role in overall water environment protection, water pollution control, and maintaining water environmental health. For drinking water, water quality monitoring is necessary to ensure safe and healthy drinking water and prevent bacterial transmission of diseases; For industrial water, water quality monitoring can be used to monitor the water quality of industrial water, which is of great significance in preventing industrial water from affecting product quality or damaging containers and pipelines.

The development of the water quality monitoring industry is closely related to China's economic development. The development process of water quality monitoring technology in China can be roughly divided into four stages: the period from 1970 to 2000 was the construction period of monitoring stations mainly focused on water quality; The period from 2000 to 2007 was a period of integrated monitoring and control, with pollution source monitoring as the main focus; The period from 2007 to 2010 was a period of comprehensive promotion of water quality monitoring; Since 2010, it has been a period of comprehensive development of intelligent environment construction and third-party governance. Looking at the development path of water quality monitoring in China, it can be roughly seen that China has initially established an environmental continuous automatic monitoring management and technology system with Chinese characteristics, and has gradually formed a network. Currently, China's water quality monitoring technology is developing towards intelligence and diversification.

As an important branch of China's environmental monitoring equipment field, the market size of water quality monitoring has always accounted for more than 45% of China's environmental monitoring *. Compared to atmospheric monitoring, water quality monitoring technology is more difficult and has more monitoring indicators. But with the continuous development of science and technology, the rapid rise of the Internet of Things has driven technological innovation in the traditional water quality monitoring industry. Various high-tech products that contribute to water quality testing have emerged one after another, opening up an era of innovation in the water quality monitoring industry.

After years of research and development, the R&D team has successfully developed an intelligent water quality automatic monitoring system based on Internet of Things technology. The system can monitor the water environment in real time through automatic patrol robots, overcoming the bottleneck problems of poor scalability of monitoring parameters, lack of online quality control methods, and insufficient intelligent recognition ability for abnormal data in water quality automatic monitoring systems. It can achieve online automatic monitoring of 86 parameters such as temperature, chromaticity, turbidity, heavy metals, etc., and timely transmit the data to the data processing center. The intelligent water quality automatic monitoring system can also remotely transmit and control data through GPRS, greatly ensuring data quality and traceability, providing strong technical support for real-time monitoring of water quality in multiple areas. At present, this system has been applied in the Yangtze River, Minjiang River, Dongjiang River and other river basins, as well as the South to North Water Diversion Project, and has played a role in many major water pollution incidents.

The development and progress of the water quality monitoring industry have not only cultivated many competitive and independently developed enterprises, but also enabled China to occupy a place in the water quality monitoring market. Looking to the future, the prospects of the water quality monitoring industry are infinitely broad, and water quality monitoring enterprises also have ample opportunities to contribute to the country. Here, we also hope that China's water quality monitoring technology can have more new breakthroughs and jointly safeguard the green mountains and clear waters of our country.
