'The tap water at home boiled and smelled strange' 'The water in the fish tank suddenly became turbid' 'White foam was floating in the river' The red circle indicating 'excessive ammonia nitrogen' on the test report is particularly glaring!
First understand: What is ammonia nitrogen?
Ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) is nitrogen present in water in the form of free ammonia (NH3) and ammonium ions (NH4+), and is a key indicator for determining water quality eutrophication.
National standard limit: Class I water ≤ 0.15mg/L, Class I and V water ≤ 2.0mg/L (exceeding this number will harm ecology and health!)! )
Excessive harm: fish gill ulcers, human consumption can easily cause methemoglobinemia, and can also lead to blue-green algae outbreaks!
The six major culprits of exceeding the standard have caused a huge rise!
1. Nitrogen discharge from industrial wastewater is a major disaster area for chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, food processing and other enterprises!
·Direct discharge of high concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater from nitrogen fertilizer plants and coking plants
·Acid washing waste liquid from metal surface treatment process
·Residual organic nitrogen compounds in pharmaceutical wastewater
(Many companies secretly engage in 'mixed discharge of rainwater and sewage', and after rain, the ammonia nitrogen in the river will suddenly soar!)
2. The 'invisible infiltration' of agricultural non-point source pollution
·Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer (with a utilization rate of only 30-50%, the remaining is washed into the river with rainwater)
·Livestock and poultry farming nightmare: One pig emits 0.3kg of nitrogen per day, and the farm's manure leaks and biogas digester wastewater is directly discharged
·Excessive feeding in aquaculture: After the decomposition of residual bait and fish manure, the ammonia nitrogen in the water rises rapidly within 24 hours (especially in high-density fish ponds/shrimp ponds)
3. Uncontrolled nitrogen cycle in domestic sewage
·Nitrogen containing detergent, human urine (yes! Urine is the main source of ammonia nitrogen in domestic sewage)
·Rainwater and sewage confluence in old communities: sewage is directly discharged into the river during rainstorm
·Landfill site: The concentration of ammonia nitrogen in leachate can reach 500-1000mg/L!
4. The 'divine assistance' of natural conditions
·For every 10 ℃ increase in water temperature, the volatilization rate of ammonia nitrogen doubles (but algae outbreaks in summer can temporarily 'mask' excessive levels)
·When the pH value is greater than 9, the toxicity of free ammonia increases by 10 times (alkaline water is like a 'toxicity amplifier' for ammonia nitrogen)
·Wetland degradation: Reed marshes and mangroves, which were originally capable of purifying nitrogen, have been destroyed, and the nitrogen cycle has lost its natural filters
5. The 'short board effect' of sewage treatment
·Old treatment facilities: The traditional activated sludge process has a removal rate of only 60-70% for ammonia nitrogen, and it strikes directly when encountering impact loads
·Operation and maintenance vulnerabilities: carbon nitrogen imbalance (lack of carbon source), insufficient aeration, and short sludge age can all lead to nitrification reaction failure
(Secretly speaking: In some places, in order to meet data standards, even temporary nitrogen reduction drugs are added, which does not solve the fundamental problem at all!)
6. The 'self backlash' of river ecology
How terrifying is a water body trapped in a vicious cycle?
·Bottom sediment release: Organic nitrogen deposited in riverbeds is continuously released every year, forming 'endogenous pollution'
·Biological death chain: Excessive ammonia nitrogen first poisons microorganisms, then leads to hypoxia in fish and shrimp, and finally algal blooms form stagnant water
Why is it recommended for companies to bring their own testing equipment?
·Ensure water quality safety
For example, in the drinking water industry, water plants monitor water quality parameters in real-time through multi parameter water quality detectors, such as pH value, turbidity, residual chlorine, and organic matter, to ensure that tap water meets national requirements and avoid safety hazards.
·Improve production efficiency
The water quality detector can efficiently and accurately detect water quality, reduce human error, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring.
· 降低成本
Self provided water quality testing equipment can significantly reduce testing costs. Traditional detection methods such as sampling, ultrasonic testing, and biofilm testing are time-consuming, costly, and complex to operate. In contrast, multi parameter water quality detectors are easy to operate, have low measurement costs, and do not require highly skilled personnel to operate.
·Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
By configuring multi parameter water quality detectors, enterprises can monitor water quality parameters in real time to ensure compliance with national requirements and avoid legal disputes and fines caused by water quality issues.
