How to solve the malfunction of industrial ice maker
Date: 2025-05-13Read: 0
Industrial ice makers are important equipment in industries such as catering, aquaculture, and healthcare, and their stability directly affects production efficiency. The following summarizes common faults and solutions from the aspects of refrigeration system, electrical system, mechanical components, water quality issues, etc., to help operators quickly troubleshoot and restore equipment operation.
1、 Refrigeration system malfunction
1. Compressor overheating or abnormal noise
-Phenomenon: The compressor casing heats up, produces friction sounds or increases vibration during operation.
-Reason:
-Insufficient or aging lubricating oil leads to increased mechanical friction;
-Excessive dust accumulation and poor heat dissipation in the condenser;
-Voltage instability or overload operation.
-Solution:
-Check the oil level after shutdown, replenish or replace the refrigeration oil (it is recommended to replace it every six months);
-Clean the dust on the surface of the condenser to ensure the normal operation of the cooling fan;
-Check if the power supply voltage is stable and avoid frequent starting and stopping.
2. Poor cooling effect or no ice making
-Phenomenon: Incomplete frosting on the surface of the evaporator, insufficient ice thickness or inability to form.
-Reason:
-Insufficient system pressure caused by refrigerant leakage;
-Abnormal opening of expansion valve and low refrigerant flow rate;
-The ambient temperature is too high or the water flow is not smooth (water-cooled models).
-Solution:
-Use a leak detector to inspect pipeline interfaces, welds, and other parts, and supplement with refrigerant of the same model;
-Adjust the expansion valve adjusting screw and observe the condensation situation of the return pipe (usually weak condensation is recommended);
-Clean the condenser fins to ensure smooth circulation of cooling water.
3. The evaporator ice layer is too thick or difficult to peel off
-Phenomenon: Ice cubes adhere to the surface of the evaporator and cannot automatically detach.
-Reason:
-Hot water circulation system malfunction (such as solenoid valve failure, aging heating pipe);
-Ice thickness sensor failure, misjudging the timing of de icing.
-Solution:
-Check if the de icing solenoid valve is powered on and clean the scale on the heating tube;
-Calibrate the ice thickness sensor and replace the probe if necessary.
2、 Electrical system malfunction
1. The control panel is unresponsive or displaying abnormally
-Phenomenon: Touch screen malfunction, flashing indicator lights, or frequent triggering of alarm codes.
-Reason:
-Power phase loss or low voltage;
-Controller program disorder or motherboard component damage.
-Solution:
-Check if the three-phase power supply is balanced and measure if the voltage is within the rated range (± 10%);
-Restart the device or restore the factory settings. If the issue persists, contact the manufacturer to replace the motherboard.
2. Sensor malfunction (temperature, water level, etc.)
-Phenomenon: The ice maker misjudges the water level height or evaporation temperature, resulting in excessive water intake or incomplete freezing.
-Reason:
-The sensor probe is wrapped in scale and the signal is distorted;
-Loose wiring or short circuit caused by moisture.
-Solution:
-Dismantle the sensor, clean the probe, and recalibrate the parameters;
-Check if the wiring terminals are oxidized and replace the waterproof cables if necessary.
3、 Mechanical component failure
1. The water pump makes abnormal noise or does not produce water
-Phenomenon: The water pump produces a harsh noise during operation, or the flow rate significantly decreases.
-Reason:
-Impeller blockage or bearing wear;
-The filter screen of the inlet pipe is blocked by impurities.
-Solution:
-Disassemble the water pump, clean the impeller, and replace the bearing;
-Clean the inlet filter to ensure that the water supply pressure is ≥ 0.1MPa.
2. Fan or drive belt damaged
-Phenomenon: Poor heat dissipation of the condenser, high pressure protection shutdown of the compressor.
-Reason:
-Fan motor burned out or belt broken;
-The deformation of the pulley causes transmission deviation.
-Solution:
-Replace the fan or belt of the same model and adjust the tightness of the belt;
-Regularly check the wear of the belt (recommended once a month).
4、 Water quality issues
1. Scaling or ice blockage in the evaporator
-Phenomenon: The ice making efficiency decreases, and there is white scale on the surface of the ice cubes.
-Reason:
-The hardness of the water source is too high, resulting in the precipitation of calcium and magnesium ions;
-Failure of water treatment system (such as saturation of softening resin).
-Solution:
-Install water softeners or regularly add scale inhibitors;
-Disassemble the evaporator and clean it with citric acid solution to remove scale.
2. Corrosion or leakage of pipelines
-Phenomenon: Water accumulation around the unit and sudden drop in refrigerant pressure.
-Reason:
-Abnormal pH value of tap water (strong acidity or alkalinity);
-The sealing ring of the pipeline joint is aging.
-Solution:
-Detect water quality and adjust it to neutral (pH=around 7);
-Replace corrosion-resistant pipes (such as stainless steel or copper pipes) and tighten seals.
5、 Other common questions
1. The deformation of the door seal leads to the leakage of cold air
-Solution: Wipe the door seal with warm water, adjust the bolt tightness, and replace it if necessary.
2. Excessive ambient temperature affects heat dissipation
-Solution: Strengthen ventilation in the computer room, avoid direct sunlight, and increase cooling water flow for water-cooled models.
