Accurate Application of 856 Conductivity Meter in Water Quality Monitoring
Date: 2025-11-27Read: 1
The precise application of 856 conductivity meter in water quality monitoring requires the combination of instrument characteristics, measurement environment, and operating standards. The following are the key points and technical solutions:
1、 Instrument characteristics and advantages
1. High precision measurement
Supports multiple ranges with a resolution of 0.001 μ S/cm, meeting the monitoring needs of pure water to high conductivity water bodies.
Automatic temperature compensation function, eliminating the influence of water temperature on conductivity (based on the Koleos formula).
2. Multi parameter display
Simultaneously display conductivity, temperature, TDS (total dissolved solids) or salinity, suitable for different scenarios (such as drinking water, industrial circulating water, seawater).
3. Data stability
Adopting anti-interference design (such as shielded electrodes, noise filtering), suitable for complex on-site environments (such as power plants, sewage treatment plants).
2、 The key steps for precise measurement of 856 conductivity meter:
1. Preliminary preparation
Electrode calibration:
Use standard solution for two-point or three-point calibration to ensure electrode response accuracy.
Regularly check the electrode status (such as whether the platinum ring is clean and the gap is normal) to avoid contamination or wear that may cause errors.
Sample pretreatment:
Remove suspended solids from water (filter or settle) to avoid clogging of electrodes or interference with measurements.
Adjust the sample temperature to room temperature (25 ℃) or enable temperature compensation function to reduce the impact of temperature fluctuations.
2. Measurement operation
Electrode infiltration:
Immerse all electrodes into the sample to avoid bubble attachment (bubbles can alter the conductivity path, resulting in low readings).
Gently shake the sample cup or stir to ensure uniform conductivity.
Stable reading:
Wait for the instrument reading to stabilize (usually 1-2 minutes) to avoid recording data when it is not stable.
For high conductivity samples (such as seawater), the electrode soaking time should be appropriately shortened to prevent polarization effects.
3. Correction of 856 conductivity meter data
Temperature compensation:
If automatic compensation is not enabled, manually input the sample temperature and use the formula to correct it.
Background deduction:
Clean the electrode with deionized water before measurement, record the blank value, and deduct it from the sample reading.
