Test method for thermal shock of electric vehicle drive components
Date: 2025-12-20Read: 0

Testing standards:GB/T 42284.4-2022 Road Vehicles - Environmental Conditions and Tests for Electrical and Electronic Equipment Used in Electric Vehicle Drive Systems - Part 4: Climate Load

Experimental objective:Simulate the thermal shock caused by ice water on products applied in the splash area of vehicles.

Test requirements:

Heating in an oven DUT reaches Tmax, maintain the specified time (th), and then spray ice water towards DUT for 3 seconds. If DUT is only splashed in one direction on the vehicle, only spray water in that direction of the installation position. If the DUT is splashed with water in multiple directions on the vehicle, these directions should be explained and a new DUT should be tested for each direction. The width of the splashing water should always be much larger than the width of the DUT. If the size of the DUT receiving splashing water is much larger than a single sprinkler head, multiple nozzles should be arranged in rows to spray water onto the DUT.

Test method:

Cycle times: 100

Tmax holding time: 1H or until the sample temperature stabilizes

Product conversion time between high temperature storage and splashing:<20s

Experimental liquid: Deionized water

Water temperature: 0~4 ℃

Water flow rate/immersion time: 3~4L/3s

Distance from nozzle to product: 325 ± 25mm

Product direction: Same as loading direction
