Maintenance cycle and content of sand and dust test chamber

The maintenance of the sand and dust test chamber should be based on the frequency of equipment use, dust type, and operating intensity to establish a cycle. The core goal is to ensure equipment sealing, sand and dust cycle stability, and electrical safety, which is usually divided intoDaily maintenance, regular maintenance (monthly/quarterly/annual)Two types, with specific cycles and operation contents as follows:

1、 Daily maintenance: after each test/daily use

Daily maintenance is the foundation for stable operation of equipment, which needs to be carried out after each test or daily use. It is short in time but crucial, and the main contents include:

  1. Dust cleaningClear the remaining dust in the sand and dust storage bin (to avoid dust getting damp and clumping, blocking the air supply duct), use a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA filter to clean the residual dust inside the box, and focus on wiping the sample holder and observation window (to prevent dust accumulation from affecting the observation of the next experiment).
  2. Sealing inspectionCheck if the sealing strip of the box sealing door is intact (without damage, deformation, or dust adhesion). If the sealing strip adheres to dust, it needs to be wiped clean with a dry cloth to ensure the sealing of the box during the next test (to prevent dust leakage).
  3. status recordSimply record the operating status of the equipment for the day (such as test duration, whether there are any abnormal noises/errors), and mark any abnormalities in a timely manner for easy troubleshooting during subsequent regular maintenance.

2、 Regular maintenance: deep maintenance according to a fixed cycle

Regular maintenance should be carried out in stages of "monthly, quarterly, and annual", with in-depth inspection and maintenance of core equipment components such as fans, electrical systems, and dust removal devices. The specific cycle and content are as follows:

maintenance cycle Core maintenance components Specific operation content
Monthly maintenance Sand and dust circulation system, safety device 1. Check the operating status of the air supply fan: listen for any abnormal noise from the fan operation, and check if the fan blades are adhered to dust (if so, power off and clean with a dry cloth to avoid blade imbalance affecting wind speed);
2. Test the safety protection function: trigger the door control protection (whether the equipment automatically stops when the door is opened), the over temperature protection (whether the alarm stops after setting the over temperature), and ensure that the safety device is sensitive;
3. Clean the filter screen of the dust collector: Remove the filter screen (such as HEPA filter) from the dust collector, and blow the filter screen in reverse with compressed air (do not wash with water to prevent filter failure). If the filter screen is damaged, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
Quarterly maintenance Electrical system, transmission components 1. Check electrical wiring: After turning off the power, open the electrical control box of the equipment and check whether the wiring terminals of the contactor, temperature controller, and PLC are loose (if so, use a screwdriver to tighten them to avoid poor contact and overheating). Clean the dust inside the electrical control box (gently suck with a vacuum cleaner, do not use water or damp cloth);
2. Maintenance of transmission components: If the equipment is equipped with a sample rotating table, a small amount of specialized lubricating oil (such as silicon-based lubricating oil) should be applied to the rotating shaft to avoid rusting and sticking;
3. Calibration of key parameters: Use an anemometer to calibrate the wind speed inside the box (ensuring compliance with test standards, such as 0.5-2m/s), use a timer to calibrate the test time control accuracy, and adjust any parameter deviations through the control panel.
annual maintenance Life assessment and overall maintenance of core components 1. Evaluate the service life of vulnerable parts: Check the aging degree of the dust collector filter screen, fan bearings, and sealing strips (such as decreased air permeability of the filter screen, abnormal bearing noise, and deformation of the sealing strips). If the components are close to their service life (such as sealing strips used for more than 1 year), it is recommended to replace them as a whole;
2. In depth maintenance of electrical components: Please have professional personnel check the operating accuracy of PLC and temperature controller, and inspect whether the insulation layer of power and grounding wires is intact (whether there is aging or damage, to prevent leakage);
3. Overall performance testing: Run the equipment without load for 1 hour, simulate a complete sand and dust test (without samples), test the stability of the equipment's wind speed and the uniformity of dust diffusion, confirm that the overall operation of the equipment is normal, and record the annual operation data of the equipment to provide reference for the next year's maintenance plan.

3、 Special case: Extra maintenance with non fixed cycles

If the device encounters the following special situations, it is necessary to break the fixed cycle and immediately perform additional maintenance:

  1. Sudden malfunctions during the experiment (such as abnormal noises, errors, and large dust leaks): After stopping the machine, first investigate the cause of the malfunction (such as stuck fan or damaged sealing strip), repair it, and then conduct targeted inspections of relevant components (such as replacing fan bearings and sealing strips). After confirming that there are no problems, restart the equipment;
  2. Restart after long-term idle (if not used for more than 1 month): Before restarting, the core content of "monthly maintenance+quarterly maintenance" should be carried out (such as cleaning the storage bin, checking electrical wiring, testing safety devices) to avoid component jamming or moisture caused by idle equipment.
