How to check the biological incubator before use and how to maintain it after use
Date: 2025-06-20Read: 3
Biological incubatorIt is a key equipment used for cell, microbial, and tissue culture in the laboratory, and its stability and cleanliness directly affect the reliability of experimental results. It is crucial to conduct scientific and standardized pre use inspections and post use maintenance in order to ensure the normal operation of equipment and extend its service life.
1、 Key points for pre use inspection
1. Appearance and sealing inspection
Check whether there is obvious damage or rust on the appearance of the box, whether the door seal is intact without deformation, and ensure that it can tightly fit when closed to prevent temperature and humidity leakage and external pollution from entering.
2. Power and control system testing
Before connecting the power supply, confirm that the voltage meets the equipment requirements and check if the circuit connection is stable. After turning on, observe whether the display screen displays temperature, humidity, CO ₂ concentration (if applicable) and other parameters normally, and test whether the set functions are sensitive and effective.
3. Internal cleanliness condition
Ensure that the inner container is clean and free of foreign objects to avoid residual contaminants affecting the cultivation of new samples. 75% alcohol can be used to wipe and disinfect, especially on shelves and corners.
4. Verification of temperature control and humidity system
Before formal use, run without load for a period of time to observe whether the temperature can stabilize at the set value and whether the humidity meets the experimental requirements (usually above 90%), and calibrate if necessary.
5. Gas supply inspection (applicable to CO ₂ incubators)
If it is a CO ₂ incubator, it is necessary to confirm that the gas cylinder pressure is normal, the pressure reducing valve is working properly, the pipeline is leak free, and the CO ₂ concentration can be stably maintained at around 5%.

2、 Maintenance measures after use
1. Daily cleaning and disinfection
After each use, the sample inside the box should be emptied, and the inner walls, shelves, and door seals should be wiped with sterile water or 75% alcohol to prevent bacterial growth or cross contamination.
2. Water pan maintenance
For devices with humidification function, residual moisture in the water tray should be cleaned in a timely manner, and sterilization water should be replaced regularly to prevent the growth of algae or bacteria.
3. Regular deep cleaning and sterilization
It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive cleaning once a month, including ventilation openings, filters, and external heat dissipation areas. Some models have high-temperature sterilization function and can be started regularly to kill potential microorganisms.
4. Check the status of key components
Regularly check the operation of heating modules, sensors, fans, etc., and promptly contact professional personnel for maintenance if any abnormalities are found to avoid affecting subsequent experiments.
5. Precautions for long-term discontinuation
If the device is not used for a long time, it should be powered off and the interior should be emptied, keeping the door slightly open for ventilation and preventing mold growth; At the same time, desiccants can be placed inside the box to prevent corrosion of metal components in humid environments.
By strictly implementing the pre use inspection and post use maintenance procedures, not only can we ensureBiological incubatorThe stable performance can effectively improve the accuracy and repeatability of experimental data, providing a solid foundation for the smooth development of scientific research work.
