Sensitivity refers to the value at which an analytical balance can detect changes in the load mass
Date: 2025-04-23Read: 26
Sensitivity refers to the value at which an analytical balance can detect changes in the load mass, that is, the division value on the scale of the balance. Sensitivity refers to the mass required for the pointer to deflect from the equilibrium position to one division on the dial. For an electronic balance, it is the mass required for the number on the display screen to jump one digit. The higher the sensitivity, the better the metrological performance of the balance.
Accuracy refers to the degree of closeness between the measured value and the true value, usually expressed in error. Precision refers to the degree of repeatability or dispersion of measurement results when measuring the same object multiple times. Its accuracy and precision are both very important, directly affecting the reliability of the analysis results.
The measurement steps of analytical balance:
1. Leveling: Place the balance on a stable, vibration free workbench and adjust the level to a horizontal position. This step ensures that the balance will not cause errors due to tilting during the measurement process.
2. Preheating: Connect the power and let the balance preheat for a period of time (usually 30 minutes to 1 hour) to reach a stable working temperature. This step is to eliminate measurement errors caused by temperature changes.
3. Calibration: Use standard weights to calibrate the balance to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results. If the balance is equipped with an automatic calibration function, it can be automatically calibrated according to the operating instructions.
4. Weighing: Place the item to be tested into the weighing tray of the balance, close the balance door, and wait for the balance reading to stabilize before reading the mass value. To improve the accuracy of the measurement, multiple measurements can be taken and the average value can be taken.
*Precautions for use:
-The balance should be placed in a dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight to prevent damage from moisture and exposure to sunlight.
-The indoor temperature should be kept within a relatively stable range to avoid the influence of temperature fluctuations on the results.
-The balance room should be kept away from vibration sources and maintain a relatively quiet environment.
-The movement should be slow and light, the lifting pivot should be slowly opened, and the circular code should be slowly rotated to prevent it from falling off or being misplaced.
-Do not directly touch the weighing object or weight with your hands. It is recommended to use tweezers or gloves for operation.
-The weighing object cannot exceed the weighing range of the balance.
-Before each weighing, check if the balance is level and ensure that the weighing plate is clean and free of debris.
-Regularly clean and maintain the balance, including cleaning the weighing plate, inspecting mechanical components, etc.
-When encountering a malfunction, promptly contact professional maintenance personnel for troubleshooting and repair. Do not disassemble or repair the balance by yourself.
-Detailed recording of quality data for each measurement, including measured values, mean values, standard deviations, etc.
