April 24th is World Corrosion Day. On the occasion of World Corrosion Day, we invite domestic corrosion experts to our center for this forum, aiming to awaken the government, industry, and every ordinary person to recognize the existence of corrosion and the significant economic losses caused by corrosion. Currently, $700 billion to $1 trillion in annual losses are caused by corrosion. Compared to earth shattering natural disasters, the destructive power of corrosion is silent, but the losses are greater than the sum of all natural disasters. Let's focus on the topic of 'corrosion' together.
Materials are the material basis for human survival and development. They are closely related to national economic construction, national defense construction, and people's lives. People have praised information, materials, and energy as the three pillars of contemporary civilization. However, a large number of facts have proven that the disasters and losses caused by material failure are incalculable. The premature failure of materials is mainly due to corrosion, wear (friction, abrasion), and fatigue (fatigue and corrosion fatigue) caused by the effects of the operating environment, manufacturing environment, and natural environment. The dynamic application scenarios of materials, such as corrosion testing and failure analysis warning, will undoubtedly be the means to verify the service life of materials.
