I. Overview

The thermal performance of polymer materials has always been an important parameter of material properties, determining the use of materials and can also be used for industrial quality control and product development. Generally speaking, the glass transition temperature is the upper limit temperature for the use of thermoplastic materials and the lower limit temperature for the use of rubber or elastomers.

Generally, the transition from glassy state to highly elastic state is called glass transition, and the temperature range of the morphological transition process is called glass transition temperature (Tg); The transition from high elastic state to viscous flow state occurs within a certain temperature range, which is called viscous flow temperature.

Usually, amorphous polymers have only one glass transition temperature; For crystalline polymers, there exists a melting point (Tm) and a typical glass transition temperature, as crystalline polymers typically cannot achieve crystallization and contain some amorphous portions.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) iscommonly usedThe measurement method involves measuring the power difference (heat flux) between the sample and reference material in relation to temperature, in order to obtain the glass transition temperature of the material
