Detailed explanation of precautions for using the fully automatic biochemical oxygen demand analyzer
Date: 2025-06-11Read: 1
Fully automatic biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) analyzerIt plays an important role in water quality monitoring. To ensure the accuracy of its measurement results and the stable operation of the instrument, attention should be paid to the following aspects during use.
1、 Sample collection and preservation
The collection of samples is a prerequisite for accurate analysis. When collecting water samples, it is necessary to ensure the cleanliness of the sampling equipment and avoid introducing impurities or pollutants. For water samples from different sources, such as surface water, sewage, etc., they should be collected according to the corresponding standard methods to ensure the representativeness of the samples. If the collected water sample cannot be analyzed in a timely manner, it needs to be properly stored. Generally speaking, water samples should be stored in dark glass bottles and placed in a low temperature, dark environment to slow down microbial activity and organic matter decomposition, and prevent sample deterioration from affecting analysis results.

2、 Instrument calibration and maintenance
Regularly calibrating a fully automatic BOD analyzer is key to ensuring measurement accuracy. According to the operating instructions of the instrument, calibrate the instrument using standard solution and check whether the zero point, range, and parameter settings of the instrument are correct. At the same time, attention should be paid to the daily maintenance of the instrument. Keep the instrument clean, regularly clean the electrodes, sensors, and other components to prevent dirt accumulation from affecting measurement sensitivity. For the piping system of the instrument, it is necessary to check for blockages or leaks to ensure that the culture medium and sample can flow normally. In addition, consumables such as culture bottles and stirrers should be replaced according to the specified time points of the instrument to ensure consistency of experimental conditions.
3、 Experimental condition control
BOD analysis requires strict experimental conditions. Temperature is an important factor affecting microbial activity and BOD measurement. It is necessary to ensure that the environmental temperature of the instrument remains stable within the specified range, and the general deviation should not exceed ± 1 ℃. The stirring speed during the cultivation process also needs to be precisely controlled, as too fast or too slow stirring may affect the transfer of oxygen and the growth and metabolism of microorganisms, thereby affecting the measurement results. In addition, it is necessary to ensure that the composition and concentration of the culture medium meet the standard requirements and avoid cross contamination between samples.
4、 Data processing and recording
After obtaining measurement data, reasonable processing and analysis should be carried out. Pay attention to checking the integrity and rationality of the data, and eliminate outliers. At the same time, detailed records of various parameters, operating steps, and sample information during the experimental process should be kept so that the cause can be traced in case of any problems. For long-term accumulated data, a scientific database should be established to facilitate querying and comparative analysis, providing reliable data support for water quality monitoring and research.
In short, only by correctly using the fully automatic biochemical oxygen demand analyzer and strictly following the above precautions can it fully play its role in water quality monitoring and provide accurate data basis for environmental protection and water resource management.
