Attention should be paid to the replacement of microporous membranes
Date: 2025-10-17Read: 0
Microporous filter membraneIt is a porous membrane filtration medium made of fibers or polymer materials, which has the advantages of uniform pore size, high porosity, and no pollution. It is widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, food, medical and health, metallurgy, chemical engineering, and machinery for the purification and biological sterilization filtration of aqueous solutions, air, alcohol, and oils, pollution analysis and determination, as well as seawater desalination pretreatment and laboratory fields.
Classified by Material:
Water based membranes, such as cellulose acetate (CA) and polyethersulfone (PES), are suitable for filtering aqueous solutions.
Organic solvent film: such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), acid and alkali resistant, and organic solvents.
Classified by structure:
Flat thin paper type, hollow fiber type, tubular type filter membrane, among which flat type is divided into two types with/without support layer.
Performance characteristics:
Hydrophilic filter membrane (such as CA, nylon): suitable for aqueous solutions, with low protein adsorption.
Hydrophobic filter membrane (such as PTFE): resistant to strong solvents, but requires pre wetting.
Precautions for membrane replacement:
Replacement timing:
When the filtration speed significantly decreases or the filter membrane is damaged, it needs to be replaced;
Disposable filter membranes cannot be reused, and reusable filter membranes need to be thoroughly cleaned (such as rinsing with deionized water+soaking in disinfectants).
Operation points:
Turn off the vacuum pump before disassembling the filter cup to avoid membrane displacement;
After replacement, rinse the filter with distilled water to remove residual impurities.
Maintenance suggestion:
After use, the filter membrane should be soaked in injection water to prevent drying, but long-term soaking should be avoided;
Regularly check the sealing and component integrity of the filter (such as gaskets and filter cups).
