Differences in oxygen concentration in anaerobic incubators

Anaerobic incubator is a special laboratory equipment mainly used for bacterial cultivation and operation in anaerobic environment. One of its core functions is to precisely control the oxygen concentration inside the box to ensure the anaerobic state of the cultivation environment. Different anaerobic incubators may have differences in oxygen concentration control, mainly reflected in real-time display of oxygen concentration, control accuracy, and maintenance mechanisms.
Real time display and control accuracy
Some anaerobic incubators are equipped with real-time display of oxygen concentration. For example, the fully automatic anaerobic incubator YQX-I has the feature of real-time display of oxygen concentration.

This real-time display function allows the operator to monitor the oxygen concentration inside the box at any time, ensuring that it is in an ideal anaerobic state. In addition, the anaerobic incubator YQX-III adopts an imported oxygen probe to display the oxygen concentration inside the box in real time, and is equipped with a deoxygenation catalyst indoors to remove residual oxygen in the cultivation operation room.

This high-precision control and monitoring capability is an important feature of modern anaerobic incubators, ensuring the stability and reliability of the cultivation environment.
Maintenance mechanism
The mechanism of maintaining low oxygen concentration in anaerobic incubators usually includes gas displacement and vacuum displacement methods. Gas replacement is achieved by introducing a mixture of gases (usually N ₂ (85%), H ₂ (10%), CO ₂ (5%)) into the box to replace the air inside. H ₂ reacts with residual O ₂ under the action of palladium catalyst to generate water (2H ₂+O ₂ → 2H ₂ O), thereby removing oxygen 2. The vacuum displacement method further removes residual oxygen by reducing the pressure inside the box. These mechanisms work together to ensure that the oxygen concentration inside the box is maintained at an extremely low level, typically below 0.1%.
Oxygen concentration control for different models
Different models of anaerobic incubators may have differences in oxygen concentration control. For example, models such as YQX-I and YQX-II may have differences in the accuracy and methods of oxygen concentration control.

When selecting an anaerobic incubator suitable for specific experimental needs, the ability to control oxygen concentration is an important consideration. Some models may offer more refined oxygen concentration adjustment options to accommodate the growth needs of different types of anaerobic microorganisms.
Conclusion
In summary, the differences in oxygen concentration control of anaerobic incubators mainly lie in real-time display, control accuracy, maintenance mechanism, and differences between different models. These differences directly affect the quality of the cultivation environment and the reliability of experimental results.

Therefore, it is crucial to understand the oxygen concentration control characteristics of anaerobic incubators when selecting and using them. By precisely controlling the oxygen concentration, anaerobic incubators provide an ideal environment for the cultivation and research of anaerobic microorganisms, ensuring the accuracy and reproducibility of experiments.
