Maintenance methods for SPS pressure sintering furnace after each use
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 0
SPS pressure sintering furnaceThe full name is Spark Plasma Sintering Furnace, which is an advanced material preparation technology equipment widely used in physics, materials science, aerospace and other fields. It utilizes the discharge plasma generated when pulse current passes through powder particles to achieve rapid sintering of materials. When a pulse current passes through powder particles, electric spark discharge occurs in the air gap between the particles, generating high-temperature plasma. The active particles in these plasmas have high energy, which can promote the decomposition of oxide films on the surface of powder particles, enhance the activity of the powder surface, and promote the contact and bonding between particles. Under the high temperature effect of discharge plasma, the surface of powder particles rapidly heats up to the sintering temperature, and then forms a compact sintered body under external pressure.
SPS pressure sintering furnaceMaintenance after each experiment:
1. Cleaning of the cavity
After the experiment is completed, wait for the furnace body to cool to a safe temperature (usually<100 ° C) and open the furnace door.
Carefully wipe the surfaces of the upper and lower pressure heads, the inner walls of the mold, the graphite pads, and the inner walls of the cavity with a dust-free cloth and anhydrous ethanol to remove any residual sample debris, carbides, or spatters.
Check and clean the contact surface between the electrode and the pressure head to ensure good conductivity.
2. Mold and head inspection
Check the graphite mold for cracks, deformation, or severe wear. If there is any damage, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
Check if the end faces of the upper and lower pressing heads are flat and free of scratches. Slight oxidation can be removed by gently sanding with fine sandpaper (such as 600 # or above).
3. Preliminary inspection of vacuum system
Observe the reading of the vacuum gauge and confirm that the vacuum level can be maintained after shutdown (without obvious air leakage).
Listen to the sound of the mechanical pump running normally and check for any abnormal noise.
4. Gas pipeline
If a protective atmosphere (such as Ar) is used, close the cylinder valve.
Check if the pipeline joints are loose.
5. Control system
Correctly exit the operating software, turn off the computer and control cabinet power.
Record the experimental parameters and equipment status.
