Solving the problem of drinking water monitoring in Hubei townships: high anti-interference water quality online monitoring instrument helps upgrade grassroots water management
Date: 2025-11-18Read: 1

In the vast rural areas of Hubei Province, harshClimate, complex geology, and decentralized water supply systems have long posed severe challenges to drinking water safety. Especially during rainy season floods, dry season water source depletion, etcharshUnder working conditions, traditional water quality monitoring equipment often faces problems such as large environmental interference, poor corrosion resistance, and severe data drift, making it difficult to operate stably, resulting in "blind spots" in water quality supervision. How to achieve all-weather, high stability, accurate and reliable water quality monitoring has become an urgent need for grassroots water management.

In recent years, with the development of intelligent sensing and IoT technology, a number of new water quality online monitoring solutions designed specifically for complex environments have emerged. Among them, the monitoring system with high anti-interference ability, corrosion-resistant structure, and remote real-time warning function has been successfully applied in many towns and villages in Hubei Province, significantly improving the water quality compliance rate and intelligent management level, truly realizing the transformation from "passive response" to "active prevention and control".

Taking dissolved oxygen (DO), a key water quality parameter, as an example, its concentration changes directly affect the self purification capacity and disinfection effect of water bodies, and it is an important indicator for evaluating the biological safety of drinking water. Although traditional electrochemical dissolved oxygen sensors have lower costs, they are susceptible to fluctuations in flow rate and pressure during long-term operation, and have fast electrode aging and frequent maintenance, making them particularly disadvantageous in remote township applications.

In contrast, optical dissolved oxygen sensors using fluorescence quenching principle exhibit significant advantages. Taking the IOT-ODO-HT series optical dissolved oxygen sensor launched by Shanghai Botuo Instrument Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of environmental monitoring equipment in Shanghai, as an example, this product is designed specifically for high demand industrial and environmental scenarios. It has been widely used in fields such as biopharmaceuticals and fermentation engineering, and gradually expanded to online monitoring systems for surface water and drinking water.

The IOT-ODO-HT sensor uses stainless steel 316L and PTFE materials to construct the contact surface, which has excellent corrosion resistance and sealing performance. It can work stably in a wide temperature range of -10 ℃ to 140 ℃, support SIP high-temperature sterilization and CIP cleaning, and is suitable for continuous operation in harsh environments. Its measurement range covers 0-300% - Sat, 4ppb~25ppm, response time t98% is less than 60 seconds, accuracy can reach ± 0.05% - vol, and weekly drift is less than 1% during long-term use, ensuring continuous and reliable data.

In addition, the sensor supports RS485 digital output and 4-20mA analog signal dual-mode transmission, compatible with mainstream data acquisition platforms, making it easy to integrate into regional water quality monitoring networks and achieve remote real-time reading and abnormal alarm. For micro water stations or decentralized water supply points set up in mountainous towns and villages in Hubei Province, the low maintenance and high stability characteristics greatly reduce operation and maintenance costs and technical barriers.

In the horizontal comparison of similar products, the performance of IOT-ODO-HT is also competitive. Compared to HACH's LDO probe and Thermo Fisher's Optek DO sensor, Boruto Instrument has a more localized advantage in terms of price and service response; Compared to the simple packaging structure commonly used by other domestic brands, IOT-ODO-HT is more rigorous in material technology, temperature compensation algorithm, and anti pollution design. It has passed factory certification and multiple material tests, meeting industrial application standards.

At present, water quality online monitoring systems based on such high-performance sensors have been put into use in township water plants and sewage treatment facilities in Xiangyang, Yichang, Xianning and other places. For example, in multiple rural centralized water supply projects in Tongshan County, integrated optical dissolved oxygen pH、 The online monitoring equipment with multiple parameter modules such as turbidity and residual chlorine realizes dynamic control of the entire process of source water and factory water. Once insufficient residual chlorine or abnormal dissolved oxygen is detected, the system can immediately trigger an alert and link with dosing adjustment, greatly improving emergency response efficiency.

It can be foreseen that with the increasing attention of the country to rural drinking water safety and the extension of smart water construction to the grassroots level, domestically produced high-quality sensors such as IOT-ODO-HT, which have reliability, adaptability, and intelligence characteristics, will play an increasingly important role in the water quality monitoring network in Hubei and even the whole country.

Guarding the safety of residents' water bottles is not only a technical proposition, but also a responsibility for people's livelihoods. Empowering grassroots governance with technology and supporting decision-making with accurate data is the only way for modern water management to move towards high-quality development.
