Spectral CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is a photoelectric sensor based on semiconductor photoelectric effect
Date: 2025-10-14Read: 0
CCD spectrometer (charge coupled device) is mainly used to convert optical signals into electrical signals for spectral analysis, and is widely used in fields such as substance composition detection and optical property analysis. By converting optical signals into digital signals, spectral data acquisition and analysis within the wavelength range (such as 200-2400nm) can be achieved, supporting high-precision measurement in weak light detection environments.
The working principle of spectral CCD is based on photoelectric effect and charge storage/transfer mechanism. The core difference from ordinary imaging CCD (such as camera CCD) is that it focuses more on "wavelength resolution" and "light intensity detection accuracy" rather than "image clarity". The specific process can be divided into four steps:
Light absorption and charge generation: The spectrometer decomposes the incident composite light into monochromatic light of different wavelengths through optical elements such as gratings and prisms, and focuses it on the photosensitive unit (pixel) of the spectral CCD. The semiconductor material (such as silicon) in the photosensitive unit absorbs photons and generates photo generated charges (electron hole pairs) proportional to the light intensity.
Charge storage: Under the electrode voltage control of CCD, photo generated charges are temporarily stored in the "potential well" corresponding to the pixel (similar to a "small container"), and the storage amount accumulates with exposure time and light intensity (the longer the exposure time and the stronger the light, the more charges there are).
Charge transfer: After the exposure is completed, the charges of each pixel are transferred to the output terminal of the CCD in sequence "row by row/column by column" through timing control signals (without charge loss during the process, ensuring signal integrity).
Electrical signal output and quantization: The charge amplifier at the output end converts the charge signal into a voltage signal, which is then converted into a digital signal through an A/D converter (analog-to-digital converter) and transmitted to the computer. Combined with the wavelength calibration data of the spectrometer, a spectrum corresponding to "wavelength intensity" is generated.
Application scenarios
Industrial testing: used in metallurgy, casting and other industries before furnaces and laboratory scenes, can detect the composition of various metal alloy elements such as Fe, Al, Cu, etc. ‌
Research field: Applied in astronomical observation, remote sensing detection, and industrial testing, such as optical instrument calibration, material characteristic analysis, etc. ‌
Technical features: Adopting a back illuminated thin CCD array, combined with flat field concave holographic grating technology, to improve resolution and stray light suppression ability; Supports high-sensitivity detection (dynamic range up to 5200:1), suitable for low light environments.
