Working principle of gas detector for portable multifunctional pump suction ammonia analyzer
Date: 2025-04-14Read: 3
The portable multifunctional pump suction ammonia analyzer is a portable device used to detect the concentration of ammonia (NH3) in the air. It can quickly and accurately detect the concentration of ammonia gas through a specific working principle, and display the results to the operator. The following is the working principle of the analyzer:
1. Pump suction sampling method
The portable multifunctional pump suction ammonia analyzer adopts a pump suction sampling method. The gas is drawn in through the inlet of the instrument by the built-in pump, and then introduced into the analysis chamber through the gas processing system (such as filters and pipelines). Pump suction sampling can ensure stable and continuous gas flow, making the detection results more accurate and reliable.
2. Gas detection principle
The analyzer uses different gas sensors to detect the concentration of ammonia gas. There are several common principles for ammonia detection, including:
(1) Principles of Electrochemical Sensors
This is a commonly used gas sensing technology in ammonia analyzers. Electrochemical sensors detect the concentration of gases through chemical reactions. The specific principle is as follows:
Ammonia molecules react with the electrolyte in the sensor, releasing charges.
The higher the concentration of ammonia, the stronger the current generated by the reaction.
The current inside the sensor is proportional to the concentration of ammonia gas, and the instrument calculates the concentration of ammonia gas through the current signal.
Electrochemical sensors typically have high selectivity, fast response, good stability, and are suitable for detecting low concentration gases.
(2) Infrared absorption principle
Some ammonia analyzers may also use the infrared absorption principle. This principle is based on the characteristic of gas molecules absorbing light under specific wavelengths of infrared light irradiation:
Ammonia has an absorption peak at specific wavelengths of infrared light.
The instrument emits light of a specific wavelength through an infrared light source, passes through a gas sample, and then measures the light intensity transmitted through the sample by a receiver.
Ammonia molecules absorb some of the light, resulting in a decrease in the intensity of the light transmitted through the sample.
According to the change in light intensity, the analyzer calculates the concentration of ammonia gas.
Infrared absorption method is usually suitable for gas detection at medium to high concentrations and has high accuracy and stability.
(3) Principles of Semiconductor Sensors
Some portable ammonia analyzers may use semiconductor sensors. The working principle of this sensor is:
Ammonia reacts with semiconductor materials, altering their electrical conductivity.
The higher the gas concentration, the greater the change in conductivity.
The instrument calculates the concentration of gas by measuring changes in conductivity.
Semiconductor sensors have a faster response speed compared to electrochemical sensors, but are more sensitive to changes in environmental temperature and humidity.
3. Gas flow control and sample pretreatment
During the process of gas entering the analyzer, a gas flow control device is usually installed inside the equipment to ensure a stable sampling flow rate. The analyzer may also be equipped with a filter to remove impurities such as moisture and dust, in order to avoid affecting the accuracy of the sensor.
4. Data processing and display
When the ammonia sensor detects a change in ammonia concentration, the microprocessor inside the analyzer processes these signals and calculates the gas concentration value. Finally, the result of ammonia concentration is displayed on the LCD screen to the operator, and a warning of excessive concentration can be issued through the alarm system.
5. Alarm function
Portable ammonia analyzers are generally equipped with alarm functions. When the detected ammonia concentration exceeds the set safety threshold, the instrument will emit visual or audible alarms to alert the operator. For example, a red warning will flash on the display screen, or the instrument will sound an alarm to remind staff to take necessary protective measures.
6. Battery and portability
As a portable device, this analyzer usually has a built-in battery to ensure long-term on-site testing without an external power source. Operators can easily carry ammonia concentration monitoring to different workplaces.
7. Multifunctionality
Many portable multifunctional pump suction ammonia analyzers also have the ability to detect other gases, such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, etc. By replacing the sensor module or setting different detection modes, the instrument can detect multiple gases as needed.
summary
The portable multifunctional pump suction ammonia analyzer mainly uses pump suction sampling method to introduce gas into the interior for analysis. It detects the concentration of ammonia gas through electrochemical sensors, infrared absorption principles, or semiconductor sensors, outputs the ammonia concentration value through a data processing system, and alerts users through an alarm system. The portability and versatility of the device make it a commonly used gas detection tool in fields such as environmental monitoring and industrial production.
