System Setting and Management of Online Oxygen Concentration Alarm
Date: 2025-09-10Read: 2
The system setting and management of online oxygen concentration alarm should be based on scientific standards, industry norms, and actual working conditions. By reasonably setting alarm values, optimizing installation locations, regularly maintaining and calibrating, strengthening data management and personnel training, a complete safety protection system should be constructed. The following are specific settings and management points:
1、 Basis and standards for setting alarm values
Common Criteria
Oxygen deficiency alarm value: 19.5% VOL (below this value may cause dizziness, fatigue, and even suffocation).
Peroxide alarm value: 23.5% VOL (higher than this value may accelerate the risk of fire and cause oxygen poisoning).
basis:
The "Design Standard for Combustible Gas and Toxic Gas Detection and Alarm in Petrochemical Industry" (GB/T50493-2019) specifies the above threshold values and allows enterprises to set secondary alarm values according to actual needs.
The "Safety Regulations for Oxygen deficient Hazardous Operations" (GB8958-2006) defines hypoxia as a state where the oxygen content is below 19.5%, strengthening this standardization.
Special scenario adjustment
Plateau region: At an altitude of 1610 meters, the normal oxygen content is about 17.3% VOL, and the alarm threshold needs to be adjusted accordingly.
Restricted space operation: According to the "Safety Regulations for Special Operations in Chemical Production Units" (GB30871-2014), the oxygen content should be controlled between 18% and 21%, and the oxygen rich environment should not exceed 23.5%.
In the medical field, stricter interval alarms need to be set up in neonatal wards, operating rooms, etc. to ensure patient respiratory safety.
Research facilities: When conducting oxygen sensitive experiments or using high-purity oxygen, precise alarm values should be set according to experimental requirements and linked with ventilation systems and emergency shut-off devices.
2、 Installation position and height specifications
installation height
The detector should be placed 1.5m~2.0m away from the floor or floor to cover the breathing area of personnel and avoid blind spots caused by improper installation.
environmental adaptability
Avoid installing near ventilation openings, doors and windows, or in areas with strong air flow to prevent data distortion caused by airflow interference.
In poorly ventilated areas such as sealed containers or underground pipe galleries, detectors should be installed in conjunction with enclosure structures to ensure comprehensive coverage.
3、 System maintenance and calibration requirements
routine maintenance
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the dust on the surface of the detector to prevent blockage and affect sensitivity.
Waterproof and moisture-proof: Avoid water ingress or exposure of the detector to humid environments to prevent component damage.
Mechanical damage prevention: Avoid excessive compression or impact during installation to prevent internal sensors from shifting or being damaged.
periodic calibration
Calibration cycle: Zero adjustment and calibration should be performed at least once every three months to ensure measurement accuracy.
Calibration method: Use standard gases (such as 19.5% VOL and 23.5% VOL oxygen concentration gases) for comparative testing and adjust equipment errors.
Fault handling: If the device displays abnormalities (such as flashing values or no output from alarm contacts), it is necessary to immediately stop using and contact professional personnel for repair.
Battery and Power Management
Regularly check the battery level to ensure that the equipment can continue to operate even in the event of a power outage.
Avoid frequent power outages to prevent unstable operation of detection components.
4、 Data management and linkage control
Data recording and transmission
Modern alarm devices usually have data storage functions, which can record multiple sets of detection data for subsequent analysis.
Integrate remote transmission function, achieve real-time monitoring and abnormal warning, and improve security management efficiency.
linkage control
Linked with the ventilation system, emergency shut-off device, etc., it automatically starts exhaust or cuts off the gas source when the oxygen concentration exceeds the limit, forming a closed-loop protection.
In scenarios such as high-pressure oxygen chambers and cold box maintenance, personnel must analyze the oxygen content (within the range of 19.5% to 23%) before entering to ensure operational safety.
5、 Personnel training and emergency management
Operation Training
Provide systematic training to users, including alarm value setting, equipment operation, daily maintenance, and fault handling.
Emphasize the recognition and response of alarm signals to ensure prompt action in the event of oxygen deficiency or peroxide.
Emergency Response Plan
Develop emergency plans for oxygen deficiency or enrichment accidents, clarify rescue procedures, personnel division of labor, and equipment usage methods.
Regularly organize drills to enhance personnel's emergency response capabilities.
