Detection standards for portable VOC concentration alarm
Date: 2025-07-10Read: 1
The portable VOC concentration alarm is mainly used to detect the concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air, ensuring the safety of the working environment. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the alarm, certain testing standards must be followed. Here are some common testing standards:
1. Equipment performance requirements
Measurement range: The measurement range of the portable VOC concentration alarm should be suitable for detecting the VOC concentration range of interest. Generally speaking, instruments should cover a range of 0-1000ppm or more, depending on the requirements of the usage environment.
Response time: The response time of the detection instrument should meet the standard requirements, usually ranging from a few seconds to tens of seconds, depending on the type of sensor used.
Repeatability and accuracy: The instrument should have good repeatability and accuracy, and the error should be controlled within ± 5%.
2. Environmental conditions
Temperature and humidity range: The portable VOC concentration alarm should operate normally within a certain temperature and humidity range. Usually, the temperature range should be -10 ° C to 50 ° C, and the humidity range should be 0% to 95% (without condensation).
Pressure adaptability: The instrument should be able to adapt to different pressure conditions, especially when used in high-altitude areas, ensuring that it can be calibrated correctly.
3. Sensor calibration
Regular calibration: The sensor of the VOC concentration alarm should be calibrated regularly to ensure accurate measurement. Generally speaking, the calibration cycle is six months or one year, depending on the frequency of use and manufacturer's recommendations.
Standard gas calibration: Suitable standard gases should be used during calibration to ensure the accuracy of the equipment. Common standard gases include methane, benzene, etc.
4. Alarm function
Alarm threshold setting: The alarm device should be able to set appropriate alarm thresholds according to actual needs. Generally speaking, two thresholds should be set for low alarm (such as 100ppm) and high alarm (such as 500ppm) to ensure timely detection of abnormal VOC concentration.
Alarm mode: The instrument should have multiple alarm modes, including sound, light signals, and vibration alarms, to ensure that alarms can be issued in a timely manner in different environments.
5. Battery performance and power management
Battery life: The battery of the portable VOC concentration alarm should have a long service life, usually requiring continuous operation for more than 12 hours after one charge.
Low battery alarm: The instrument should be able to issue a low battery alarm when the battery is low, prompting the user to charge in a timely manner.
6. Equipment maintenance and inspection
Regular maintenance: Conduct comprehensive inspections of the handheld VOC concentration alarm on a regular basis, including cleaning the sensor, replacing the battery, and checking the alarm function.
Damage detection: If obvious damage is found on the appearance of the instrument, the screen cannot display, or the alarm function is abnormal, it should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.
7. Compliance with standards and certification
National standard: Portable VOC concentration alarm devices should comply with relevant national and industry standards, such as GB/T15220-2018 (General Technical Requirements for Environmental Gas Detection Instruments).
Certification requirements: The equipment should pass necessary certifications, such as CE certification, UL certification, etc., to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
By following these testing standards, the stability, reliability, and safety of the portable VOC concentration alarm can be ensured, effectively preventing safety accidents caused by VOC leakage.
