The steel plate ultrasonic thickness gauge is mainly used to measure the thickness of metal materials, especially steel plates. It works based on the principle of propagation and reflection of ultrasonic waves, and calculates the thickness of materials by emitting high-frequency ultrasonic pulses and measuring their reflection time. This non-contact and non-destructive measurement method is suitable for materials that require high surface quality.
The main advantages of this thickness gauge are its high precision, wide range measurement, and non-destructive detection. It can accurately measure the thickness of various materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, etc., and the measurement error is usually controlled within a very small range. In addition, the thickness gauge does not need to be in direct contact with the measured material, avoiding the damage or contamination that traditional measurement methods may cause. It also has the characteristics of easy operation, high reliability, and multifunctionality.
working principle
The ultrasonic thickness gauge emits a high-frequency ultrasonic pulse through an internal ultrasonic probe (transducer). These pulses undergo the first reflection when encountering the surface of the measured material, and some of the energy continues to penetrate the material. When encountering the bottom surface of the material, it is reflected back again. The instrument measures the time required for ultrasonic pulses to be emitted and received, and calculates the thickness of the material by combining the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in the material.
Main functions
High thickness measurement accuracy: It can accurately measure the thickness of metal materials such as steel plates and aluminum plates with small errors.
Non destructive testing: No need to damage the object being tested, real-time monitoring of thickness changes is possible.
Wide applicability: can be used for metal materials of various shapes and sizes.
Precautions
Ensure that the probe and material surface are clean before measurement to prevent contamination from affecting measurement accuracy.
Regularly calibrate instruments to maintain their measurement accuracy.
For thickness measurement of special alloys or complex surfaces, more specialized probes and technical support may be required.
