Precautions for safe use of single-mode microwave synthesizer
Date: 2025-07-10Read: 0
Single mode microwave synthesizer is an efficient device that utilizes microwave energy for chemical synthesis. Special attention should be paid to the following safety precautions to avoid operational risks, equipment damage, or personal injury:
1、 General safety precautions for single-mode microwave synthesizer
1. Preparation before operation
Training requirements: Operators need to receive professional training, familiarize themselves with equipment operation procedures, microwave safety regulations, and emergency response measures.
Reading manual: Carefully read the instrument manual to understand the equipment functions, limiting parameters (such as maximum pressure and temperature), and maintenance requirements.
Personal protection: Wear protective clothing, goggles, heat-resistant gloves, and avoid direct contact with high-temperature components or reaction systems.
2. Equipment inspection
Appearance inspection: Confirm that the instrument is not damaged (such as furnace cavity cracks, aging sealing rings, loose fiber optic interfaces, etc.).
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the residual chemicals in the furnace cavity to avoid cross contamination or corrosion.
Emergency stop: Check if the emergency stop button (if any) is available to ensure that the power can be quickly cut off in case of emergency.
3. Reaction system design
Solvent selection: Avoid using high boiling point, explosive or highly corrosive solvents, and prioritize low boiling point, microwave transparent solvents.
Sample size control: Single mode synthesizers are usually suitable for small volume reactions, and excessive amounts may lead to pressure exceeding the standard.
Pressure monitoring: Set reasonable pressure thresholds based on reaction conditions to avoid the risk of overpressure explosion.
2、 Safety specifications during the operation of single-mode microwave synthesizer
1. Loading samples
Container selection: Use specialized reaction tubes that are resistant to microwaves, high temperatures, and high pressures, and avoid using metal containers (which may cause sparks or interfere with microwave fields).
Sealing inspection: Ensure that the reaction tube is well sealed (such as tightening the lid, checking the O-ring), to prevent microwave leakage or reaction solution splashing.
Position adjustment: Place the reaction tube accurately in the center of the single-mode cavity, avoiding contact with the cavity wall or antenna, to ensure uniform absorption of microwaves.
2. Parameter settings
Temperature and time: Set a step heating program (such as preheating stage+constant temperature stage) according to the reaction requirements to avoid sudden high temperatures causing violent reactions.
Power control: Use low power in the initial stage and gradually increase it after the reaction stabilizes to avoid local overheating.
Prohibition of Exceeding Limits: It is strictly prohibited to exceed the maximum temperature or pressure limit indicated on the equipment to prevent damage or explosion.
3. Operation monitoring
Real time observation: Monitor temperature and pressure curves through software, and immediately pause if any abnormalities are detected (such as sudden pressure rise or temperature loss).
Avoid interference: Do not open the furnace door or move the reaction tube during operation to prevent microwave leakage or damage to the magnetic field distribution.
Ventilation requirements: Ensure good ventilation in the laboratory and timely discharge of volatile gases or smoke.
3、 Microwave safety and radiation protection of single-mode microwave synthesizer
1. Microwave leakage protection
Regular testing: Use a microwave leak detector to check the sealing of the furnace chamber to ensure that the leakage is below the safety standard.
Close the furnace door: It is strictly prohibited to operate with no load or open the door during operation to avoid microwave radiation leakage.
2. Electromagnetic compatibility
Stay away from metal objects: Avoid placing metal instruments around the furnace cavity to prevent local overheating or interference caused by reflected microwaves.
Independent power supply: Use dedicated power supply to avoid sharing circuits with high-power devices and prevent voltage fluctuations.
