The new year's work has officially begun!!!

At this moment, you are full of fighting spirit, full of energy, and ready to start the instrument.

However, you think that after a holiday of adjustment, the instruments will better match your pace, and life seems to be right in front of you. However, reality is always cruel. You will find that the instrument is not prone to problems when it is turned on for a long time, but after a few days of shutdown during holidays, it repeatedly malfunctions when turned on and running. So, what should we do? Xiao Xi Jie is here to give you some tips. Before turning on some of the instruments, you should make these preparations.

Raman, fluorescence, ellipsometry spectrometer

Attention should be paid before starting up

1. Turn on the laboratory air conditioning and ensure that the room temperature is stable at the working temperature before turning on the instrument to prevent optical components from being affected by temperature changes on spectral signals.

2. Ensure that the laboratory power supply is normal (well grounded, output voltage is the working voltage of the instrument).

3. Confirm that the wiring of the instrument and equipment is correct.

If dust accumulates in the laboratory during holidays, it is necessary to clean the laboratory to prevent dust from falling onto optical components and affecting their performance.

After turning on, check whether the instrument performance is normal by using standard samples

Raman spectrometer: detecting silicon signals

Fluorescence spectrometer: detecting Raman peaks of lamp spectrum and water

Elliptical analyzer: detecting standard samples (SiO2/Si)

ICP spectrometer

Attention should be paid before starting up

1. Turn on the air conditioner to ensure that the room temperature is fixed at 22 ℃, in order to prevent optical components from being affected by temperature changes and causing spectral line drift, resulting in unstable measurement data.

2. Turn on the exhaust system to eliminate toxic gases generated during work, avoiding toxic gases from staying indoors and causing harm to personnel health.

3. Depending on the situation, turn on the dehumidifier to ensure that the indoor humidity is controlled between 45% and 60%, in order to avoid excessive humidity affecting the high-frequency transmitter. Mild cases may cause the plasma to be difficult to ignite, while severe cases may result in high-voltage damage to components and the high-frequency transmitter and circuit board.

4. High purity argon gas must be used, with a purity requirement of 99.9995% or higher, to avoid ignition failure or ICP extinction.

When starting up and using, be sure to ensure stable airflow and avoid bending the pipe too much to prevent unstable air flow and pulsation, which may affect the measurement. And regularly observe the pressure reducing valve to ensure that the argon pressure is between 0.6 and 0.7 MPa.

routine maintenance

1. Regularly remove dust and prevent dust. With the power disconnected, use dry and clean gauze, a small brush, or a vacuum cleaner to clean the accumulated dust from various parts.

2. Regularly clean the atomizer, atomization chamber, and torch tube, especially after measuring high salt solutions, otherwise it may cause blockage of the atomizer and abnormal aerosol channels due to salt accumulation in the torch tube nozzle. Regularly clean with dilute nitric acid and deionized water.

3. After completing each experiment, ensure that the sample solution and standard solution are kept away from the instrument to reduce corrosion caused by volatilization.

4. Distilled water must be used for circulating cooling water to prevent scaling.

If the machine is not in use for a long time, it must be turned on once a week for at least 30 minutes each time.

Liquid Chromatograph

After the holiday, it is recommended to use the instrument by starting it up in three steps

Step: Turn on the air conditioner and set the temperature to 20-22 ℃.

Step 2: Keep the air conditioning running for 4-8 hours before turning on the instrument. If you are not in a hurry to use the instrument, it is recommended to keep the air conditioning running until the next day before turning it on.

Step 3: After the UPS power supply is working properly, turn on the computer first, enter the Windows interface, and then turn on the sampler, pump, and mass spectrometer. After turning on the power for 10 minutes, you can enter the control software, then vacuum overnight until the next day, replace with fresh mobile phase, start up, turn on high-pressure nitrogen, so that the instrument can be used normally.
