Facial expression analysis system
Facial expression analysis system (FaceReader)yesstrongbigAutomated facial expression analysis system helps you obtain accurate, objective, and reliable facial expression data. The system interface is user-friendly and easy to integrate with eye movement and physiological data, making it a powerful tool for conducting various research!
The system can analyze seven basic emotions: happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear, and disgust. In addition, it can identify neutral states and analyze contempt, and provide emotional attitude analysis such as interest, confusion, and boredom, analyze facial action units, valence, arousal, heart rate, gaze direction, head orientation, and personal characteristics such as age, gender, etc. The system also supports custom expressions. The new version has added modules for sentiment speech analysis, multiplayer analysis, and consumer behavior analysis, as well as more synchronized measurement data such as eye movement and respiratory rate.
System workflow
面部定位Using deep learning algorithms to search and locate facial features.
Facial modelingAccurate facial modeling based on the main facial feature points.
Facial classificationClassify facial expressions using artificial neural networks.
System advantages and characteristics
  • Chinese and English menus, freely switchable

  • Both images and videos can be analyzed (supporting real-time/offline)

  • Automatically analyze emotional changes caused by different stimuli

  • Easy to use, saving a lot of valuable time and resources

  • Can be quickly integrated with eye movement, physiological and other data

  • Equipped with Baby version, suitable for infants and young children aged 6-24 months

  • With an online version, research can be conducted anytime, anywhere

  • Non contact observation provides more objective and accurate results

  • Modular design can meet your various research needs

  • Visual presentation, making the results clear at a glance

data support
According to validation studies using the ADFS dataset, FaceReader provides accurate performance in emotion classification with an average accuracy of 99%.
Main module composition
FaceReader is an advanced system with modular design, and different modules have different functions. You can choose the corresponding module according to your specific micro expression analysis module research needs.
Project analysis module
The module includes a stimulus presentation tool that can automatically present corresponding stimuli to participants, such as commercial advertisements or images, and ultimately obtain detailed data reports.
The module supports simple encoding and labeling of stimulus events, such as "participant distraction", "conversation", etc., to detect emotional changes in participants when displaying different stimuli. In addition, it is also possible to compare the responses of different subject groups (such as gender) to different stimuli.
Micro expression analysis module
The system is currently capable of automatically analyzing 20 facial action units, such as "lifting cheeks", "wrinkling nose", "squeezing out dimples", and "tightening lips". In addition, supporting separate analysis of 11 facial action units on the left and right sides of the face is beneficial for promoting the development of stroke research in the medical field.
By combining basic facial expressions, action units, heart rate, and other variables, you can create custom algorithms to customize facial expressions (such as attention, embarrassment, genuine smile, fake smile, pain, etc.). The new version has updated and validated the custom facial expressions for "Attention", and verified more new facial action units, improving accuracy.
Dietary behavior analysis module
This module can analyze behaviors such as diet and conversation, and evaluate and verify research objectives through this function based on experiments. The specific behaviors that can be analyzed include:
  • chew

  • take a bite

  • conversation

Vital signs module
The module supports measuring heart rate variability (HRV), which can serve as an additional indicator for evaluating arousal. The measurement can be completed through the system's camera without the need for any other tools. Using photoplethysmography (PPG) technology, physiological signals and features are obtained by measuring changes in blood volume beneath the skin epidermis, which is a non-invasive measurement technique.
The new version has added the measurement of respiratory rate (bpm) on this basis, gradually improving the measurement of more comprehensive vital sign data.
Emotional Speech Analysis Module
New version of the brand new module! Based on an English speech data model, it is possible to analyze sound features, emotions (happiness, sadness, anger, and neutrality), as well as volume and speed. Visual presentation of results, such as sound intensity bar chart, sound waveform chart, sound effect vital sign module update price, and arousal level.
Advanced Research Module
This module supports multi person facial expression analysis, which can analyze up to 8 subjects simultaneously (limited to videos), and can flexibly select or exclude analysis objects.
Consumer behavior module
Through this module, consumer behavior statistics can be conducted:
• Intake count
• Chewing action counting
Application field
FaceReader has a wide range of application areas, including but not limited to lists
  • Psychological applications (such as fear research, etc.)

  • In the field of education (improvement of teaching tools)

  • Usability testing (human-computer interaction response and user experience) for consumers

  • Behavioral research (sensory research, etc.)

  • Market research (commercial advertising evaluation, packaging design, etc.) for entertainment companies

  • Face (gaming experience)

  • Medical research (pain detection, etc.)

  • Research on Human Settlement Building Environment (Sound, Light, Space Experience, etc.)
