Three gas incubator maintenance guide: 5 tips to extend equipment life and stability
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 0
Three gas incubatorBy precisely controlling the concentrations of oxygen (O ₂), nitrogen (N ₂), and carbon dioxide (CO ₂), simulating special environments such as low oxygen and high oxygen required for cell or microbial growth, it is a core device in biomedical research. Its stability directly affects the reliability of experimental results. The following 5 maintenance techniques can help extend equipment life and ensure stable performance:
1. Regular cleaning and disinfection: prevent contamination and corrosion
Internal cleaning: Use a soft cloth dipped in neutral cleaning agent to wipe the inner container, shelves, and sensor surfaces every month, avoiding the use of strong acid and alkali cleaning agents to prevent corrosion of the stainless steel inner container or sensor.
Disinfection treatment: Wipe the inside of the box with 75% alcohol or chlorine containing disinfectant every quarter. The shelf can be removed for high-temperature and humid sterilization (121 ℃, 15 minutes) to prevent microbial contamination from causing experimental failure.
Water tank maintenance: Replace distilled or deionized water every six months to prevent mineral deposition from corroding the water tank, and check if the water level sensor is working properly.
2. Gas system maintenance: Ensure accurate concentration
Sensor calibration: Use standard gas to calibrate the concentration of O ₂ (electrochemical sensor) and CO ₂ (IR infrared sensor) every six months. If the error exceeds ± 2%, the sensor needs to be replaced.
Air circuit inspection: Check the solenoid valve and flow meter for air leakage every month, apply soapy water to the pipeline connections, and if bubbles are found, tighten the joints or replace the sealing rings.
Gas purity: Ensure that the input gas is of high purity (O ₂ ≥ 99.5%, N ₂ ≥ 99.99%, CO ₂ ≥ 99.9%), as impurities can shorten the sensor life and affect experimental results.
3. Temperature and humidity control optimization: reduce fluctuations and losses
Temperature calibration: Use a high-precision thermometer (accuracy ± 0.1 ℃) to compare the displayed values inside the box every quarter. If the error exceeds ± 0.5 ℃, adjust the PID parameters or replace the PT100 temperature sensor.
Humidity management: If the equipment does not have humidity control, a water container should be placed inside the box to maintain humidity; For those with humidity control function, check if the humidifier sink is clean every month to prevent scale blockage.
Ventilation maintenance: Clean the dust in the ventilation holes every week to ensure smooth air circulation and avoid compressor overheating and failure due to poor heat dissipation.
4. Electrical and safety system inspection: prevention of faults and risks
Wires and plugs: Check the power cord for damage and loose plugs every month to avoid fires caused by poor contact.
Overtemperature protection: Test the overtemperature alarm device every quarter, press the monitoring alarm button, adjust the fixing screws until the alarm light is on, and ensure that the equipment can automatically cut off the power when the temperature is out of control.
Grounding inspection: Ensure that the equipment casing is reliably grounded to prevent electric leakage from injuring people or damaging the circuit.
5. Long term disuse and storage management: avoid component aging
Pre shutdown treatment: If the equipment is not used for a long time, it is necessary to empty the contents of the box, turn off the power, wipe off the accumulated water, and run it for 5 hours every 3 months (with a temperature of 40 ℃). Open the door every 2 hours to release moisture and prevent electrical components from being damaged by moisture.
Storage environment: The equipment should be stored in a dry, cool, and well ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight or high temperature environments (such as above 35 ℃). If necessary, ventilation facilities should be added at the back.
Additional suggestion: Standardize operations and record keeping
Operation standard: managed by a dedicated person to avoid arbitrary adjustment of controller parameters; When disassembling and assembling the studio bracket, a random wrench should be used to prevent damage to the threads.
Data recording: Establish maintenance logs to record the time and results of each cleaning, calibration, and component replacement, facilitating the tracking of equipment status.
Emergency plan: Develop emergency response procedures, such as immediately shutting down the gas source and ventilating in case of gas leakage, and using backup equipment in case of temperature loss.
Effect analysis:
By implementing the above maintenance measures, it is possible to significantly reduceThree gas incubatorThe failure rate (such as sensor failure, air leakage, temperature fluctuations, etc.) is reduced, and the service life of the equipment is extended (usually up to 8-10 years), while ensuring the stability of the experimental environment and improving the success rate of cell culture, microbial reproduction, and other research. Regular maintenance can also avoid experimental duplication or invalid data caused by equipment problems, saving research costs and time.
