With the release of the "Management Catalogue for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products", China's work on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products has entered a new era. In order to strengthen the implementation of relevant supporting standards, promote compliance of enterprises and products, and enhance the interaction of the standard working group, after research, the "Technical Seminar on Product Compliance Evaluation of the 'Catalogue of Hazardous Substance Restricted Use Standards Management for Electrical and Electronic Products' and the 2018 * Working Meeting of the Ministry of Electrical and Electronic Product Pollution Prevention and Control Standards Working Group" were held in Beijing on April 19, 2018.

As early as March 15, 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China issued Announcement No. 15 of 2018 on the "Catalogue of Hazardous Substances Restricted for Use in Electrical and Electronic Products (* Batch)", which includes China RoHS and the "List of Exceptions for the Application of Restricted Substances in the Catalogue of Compliance Management". It was implemented one year after the announcement (March 15, 2019).

The announcement stipulates that the content of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in the products included in the catalog should comply with relevant standards such as the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, and be included in the management scope of the qualified assessment system for the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. Those listed in the "Exception List for Restricted Substance Applications in the Standard Management Catalog" may temporarily not be subject to this requirement.

*The standard management directory includes 12 categories of electronic and electrical products, including refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, electric water heaters, printers, copiers, fax machines, televisions, monitors, microcomputers, mobile communication handheld devices, and single machines.
