Briefly describe the common faults and corresponding solutions of microchannel reactors
Date: 2025-07-18Read: 1
As a precision equipment,Microchannel reactorDuring the operation, various faults may be encountered, which may affect the experimental results or production efficiency. Timely identification and resolution of these issues are crucial for ensuring the normal operation of the system.
This article will introduce several common microchannel reactor failures and their corresponding solutions to help users quickly restore normal operation.
1. Fluid blockage
Phenomenon description: The fluid flow inside the equipment is not smooth, and the pressure rises abnormally, resulting in the reaction not proceeding as expected.
Possible reasons:
Particle impurities: The raw material contains unfiltered solid particles.
Crystalline deposition: Some reaction products crystallize on the walls of microchannels, causing blockage.
Solution:
Pre filtration treatment: Add a filtration step before feeding to remove any possible particles and ensure the purity of the raw materials.
Cleaning and maintenance: Use appropriate solvents (such as acids, bases, or organic solvents) to backwash the reactor, dissolve and remove sediment. Regular cleaning is an effective measure to prevent blockages.
2. Temperature control failure
Phenomenon description: The reaction temperature deviates from the set value, causing overheating or undercooling, which affects the reaction selectivity and yield.
Possible reasons:
Sensor malfunction: The temperature sensor is damaged or poorly connected.
Cooling/heating system malfunction: There are problems with components such as the circulation pump and heat exchanger.
Solution:
Check the sensor: First confirm the working status of the temperature sensor, replace it with a new one if necessary, and recalibrate the control system.
Maintenance of temperature control system: Check whether the coolant circulation is smooth and whether the pump has leaks or blockages; At the same time, check the heat transfer performance of the heat exchanger and clean or replace it if necessary.
3. Pressure fluctuations
Phenomenon description: Unstable system pressure may cause seal leakage or equipment damage.
Possible reasons:
Improper valve adjustment: The opening degree of the feed valve or discharge valve is not appropriate, resulting in unbalanced flow.
Pipeline leakage: Poor sealing at the connection, resulting in gas or liquid leakage.
Solution:
Optimize valve settings: Adjust the opening of each valve according to actual needs to maintain fluid balance in the system.
Check sealing: Check the sealing condition of all interfaces and flanges one by one, and immediately repair or replace the sealing gasket if any leakage point is found.
4. Decreased pumping capacity
Phenomenon description: The output flow rate of the feed pump decreases, affecting the reaction process.
Possible reasons:
Pump head wear: After long-term use, the internal components of the pump head wear out, reducing work efficiency.
Insufficient inlet pressure: The position of the storage tank is too low or the pipeline is too long, resulting in insufficient pressure at the suction end.
Solution:
Replace pump head: If it is determined that the efficiency reduction is caused by mechanical wear, a new pump head needs to be replaced and installed correctly according to the instructions.
Optimize pipeline design: increase the height of the storage tank, shorten the length of the feed pipeline, and ensure sufficient inlet pressure.
