Let's understand the working principle of industrial grade coordinate measuring machines
Date: 2025-07-23Read: 1
Industrial grade coordinate measuring machineCMM is a precision measuring device based on a three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, widely used in industries such as machinery, electronics, instrumentation, and plastics.
Working Principle:
1. Coordinate measurement principle: Based on the Cartesian coordinate system, the position of any point in space is determined through three mutually perpendicular coordinate axes (X, Y, Z). The detection system of the measuring machine moves on the surface of the workpiece, collects the coordinate values of the measurement points, and thus achieves the measurement of the geometric dimensions and shape of the workpiece.
2. Principle of Data Collection and Processing: The information of measurement points is obtained by using a probe in contact or non-contact with the surface of the workpiece. This information is converted into electrical or optical signals by sensors, and then collected, converted, and analyzed by a data processing system to obtain various measurement parameters of the workpiece.
Industrial grade coordinate measuring machineFunction of:
1. Dimensional and positional tolerance testing: Measurement of parameters such as length, diameter, angle, flatness, roundness, cylindricity, etc., with errors controlled at the micrometer level.
2. Complex surface measurement: Capture the geometric features of free-form surfaces (such as molds and impellers) through non-contact laser scanning or contact ruby probes.
3. Reverse engineering and digital modeling: Collecting physical point cloud data, generating CAD models, supporting product iterative design or replication of old parts.
4. Online quality control and process monitoring: integrated with CNC machine tools to achieve closed-loop control of processing measurement correction, improving production consistency.
