Challenge:A French agricultural machinery manufacturer needs a fast and accurate 3D data acquisition method to customize and replicate agricultural equipment components.
Solution: Artec Leo, Artec Studio
Effect: This company has completed high-precision 3D scanning of components and made improvements to produce core cleaning components or enhanced seeding systems.
Reason for choosing Artec: In terms of parts customization, Artec 3D is a supplier of 3D scanning solutions. Artec 3D scanners focus on improving accuracy, speed, and usability, and can support the research, redesign, and modification of agricultural components, providing you with a seamless and smooth experience.
Agriculture has evolved from an important means of survival in the past to a fundamental economic activity on a global scale, constantly evolving and developing. Over time, agriculture has made incredible progress. With the rapid development of technology, agricultural operations are now faster, more efficient, and more refined. However, we still need to answer a question: are these advances sufficient to address the challenges of the global food system and solve the problem of sustainable food supply?
French innovation company Agri Techni Concept knows the answer.

Addressing the urgent needs of local farmers
The food we eat every day is produced through a complex global network, in which farmers, food manufacturers, retailers, and technology suppliers are all important links. This network plays a crucial role in improving farming practices and enhancing the sustainability of the entire food system. The Agri Techni Concept is located in the Sauer district of southwestern France and has made significant contributions to the modernization of local (green) agriculture. The company not only manufactures specialized equipment for agriculture and forestry, but also updates agricultural equipment for root vegetables throughout southwestern France.
Agri Techni Concept always focuses on emerging technologies and strives to exceed customer expectations to enhance equipment functionality, efficiency, and durability. Therefore, the company turned to CADvision, which is the leading supplier of advanced integrated 3D solutions in France. CADvision has special expertise in CAD and additive manufacturing, and is a long-term partner of Artec 3D, helping many companies complete strategic investments.
When it comes to 3D scanning applications, agriculture may not be the first industry that people think of, but this company has chosenArtec LeoThis just proves what advantages 3D scanning can bring to agricultural scenes.

Special 3D equipment greatly optimizes production
Benjamin Leroux, founder of Agri Techni Concept, is passionate about innovation. He needs to find a special solution for a special project: the company has taken on the agricultural equipment renovation and maintenance project that was originally about to be phased out. In order to help farmers use time tested machines and increase yields by integrating customized components, Leroux chose a wireless 3D scanner Artec Leo. For Leroux, the three points that attract him to Leo are high portability, independent use, and high-quality quantity collection capability.
This wireless device makes 3D scanning easy. In fact, the entire scanning process is intuitive and simple, which will definitely impress you with its capabilities (spoiler, new NVIDIA processor, 5-inch high-definition built-in display screen and battery). Leo can ensure accurate and high-definition data collection at every stage, which is crucial for drawing drawings of outdated components that have been discontinued.
Scope of application and accuracy are equally important
The special needs of farmers make the entire project more challenging. For example, the sand carrots harvested by Agri Techni from light soil need to be cleaned directly in the ground and then sent to the factory for further processing. Due to the fact that only specific devices are capable of completing this task, Leroux and his team need to adjust the equipment to improve efficiency.
Artec 3D technology has added a new layer of meaning to my work. Not only can I quickly provide qualitative models, but I can also ensure the accuracy of the models. ”
To design an integrated carrot cleaning component, Agri Techni first met with the client and reviewed the machines planned to be used for the cleaning component. The team designed a star shaped rubber system filtration mechanism that allows carrots to pass through while removing as much sand as possible, thus achieving the purpose of cleaning. To ensure that the core components can be integrated into the machine, they also made digital copies of the device through Leo.

3D farming - faster, clearer, and simpler
Most scanning tasks can be completed in 2-3 minutes, but if the scanned object is particularly large, it may take up to ten minutes. After the scanning is completed, the object data will be transmitted to Artec Studio for rapid processing and cleaning. This simple and intuitive3D softwareKnown for its high-precision performance, it can complete the scanning process and export 3D models to CAD software for refinement operations, with a smooth and seamless entire process. Leroux explained, "After the data is sent to Artec Studio, I will process the file to ensure that there are no more defects during scanning after rendering. “
Firstly, the scanner enabled me to obtain precise measurement results, creating a practical database that can be easily applied to CAD software processing. 3D technology has added a new layer of meaning to my work. Not only can I quickly provide qualitative models, but I can also ensure model accuracy. ”
Due to 3D digital technology, all modifications of the machine are made to fit the body (Image: Agri Techni Concept)
Another example is that the customer wishes to improve the equipment to shorten the sowing time. Experts from Agri Techni visited the farm, inspected the equipment, and discussed possible solutions. Subsequently, they proposed a plan to install a fertilizer spreader and mount the hoe on the lifting system to minimize the number of tractor trips.
They completed meticulous scanning for the machine to ensure that all modifications fit the shape of the vehicle body. Regarding this process, Leroux commented, "Agricultural machinery is often very bulky, so a portable and practical device is very necessary to get rid of logistics restrictions and operate directly on the farm“
Agri Techni has participated in a series of equipment renovation projects, and only 3D scanning technology can meet all precision and fit requirements. Whether scanning large components or measuring hard to reach areas, Artec Leo can easily solve these headache inducing problems. In order to meet the needs of farmers, Leroux needs to adjust according to the properties and sizes of different objects, which is impossible without precise 3D digital technology.
High precision parts replication becomes a reality (Image: Agri Techni Concept)
The French company stated that most of the agricultural machinery encountered in similar projects did not have blueprints. Therefore, for some mechanical components that are functionally important but have tight delivery times, the difficulty of replication becomes even greater, such as curved and irregularly shaped parts like the loosening mechanical bucket. So, Artec Leo made a brilliant debut - it became possible to measure such components with sub millimeter accuracy, and replacement components could also fit together. Even if there is no maintenance or repair plan for old components, the team can easily and quickly produce replacement parts. Farmers can easily improve their existing equipment without spending a large amount of money.
Global Perspective: Agricultural Transformation
No matter how complex the components of agricultural machinery are, they can now be reborn. Looking at the world, this means that the application of 3D technology can not only optimize customized machinery for farmers, but also help them save time, money, and energy in the long run, with higher sustainability. Agri Techni Concept is well aware of this and is planning to promote these practices by directly providing 3D scanning services to businesses that want to simplify agricultural processes.
Innovative technologies continue to emerge, and the agricultural sector will usher in new changes. Replacing mechanical components, customizing tools, and creating scale models for agricultural facilities are several cost-effective solutions for 3D scanning optimization. With the large-scale development of 3D methods and technologies, some urgent challenges in agriculture can be easily solved, just like this time, high-tech has taken root and borne fruit in French farmland.
