The core permeability tester can help researchers better understand the underground fluid flow characteristics and optimize reservoir development plans by accurately measuring the permeability of the core. In the actual operation process, the core permeability tester may encounter faults. Understanding these faults and their corresponding solutions can ensure normal operation and obtain reliable experimental data.

1、 Unstable pressure or inability to reach the set value
Phenomenon: Unable to maintain the set pressure value stably, or unable to achieve the target pressure.
Reason:
Air source issue: Insufficient compressed air supply or poor air source quality, containing moisture and impurities.
Aging of seals: Internal seals are damaged or aged, leading to gas leakage.
Sensor malfunction: Pressure sensor failure or improper calibration.
resolvent:
Check the compressed air supply system to ensure that the air source pressure is sufficient and pure. Install dryers and filters to remove moisture and particulate matter from the air.
Regularly inspect and replace aging seals, especially sealing rings and gaskets in high-pressure areas, to ensure they are intact and undamaged.
Calibrate the pressure sensor and adjust it according to the manufacturer's guidelines. If the sensor has an irreparable malfunction, a new sensor needs to be replaced.
2、 Inaccurate or fluctuating traffic
Phenomenon: The displayed flow value does not match the expected value, or there is a significant fluctuation in flow during the measurement process.
Reason:
Flow meter malfunction: The flow sensor is damaged or calibrated incorrectly.
Pipeline blockage: There are foreign objects or deposits in the sample chamber or connecting pipeline that hinder fluid flow.
Improper valve adjustment: The valve controlling the flow is not adjusted correctly, resulting in unstable flow.
resolvent:
Calibrate the instrument to ensure accurate readings. For electronic flow meters, check if the power and signal lines are well connected; For mechanical flow meters, clean or replace worn parts.
Clean the sample chamber and all connecting pipelines, and remove any substances that may cause blockage. Regularly maintain the instrument to prevent sediment accumulation.
Adjust the valve that controls the flow rate to ensure its appropriate opening and avoid rapid or slow changes in flow rate. If necessary, an automatic control system can be used to maintain a constant flow rate.
3、 Abnormal or lost data collection
Phenomenon: The data collection system is unable to record experimental data properly, or there is intermittent loss of data.
Reason:
Software malfunction: Data collection software crashes or has compatibility issues.
Hardware failure: The data acquisition card or other hardware components have malfunctioned.
Communication interruption: There is a problem with the communication line between the instrument and the computer.
resolvent:
Restart the data collection software and update to the new version. Ensure that the operating system and drivers are compatible with the software.
Check the status of the data acquisition card and other hardware components, and replace them promptly if any faults are found. For complex hardware issues, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel for repairs.
Confirm the connection status of the communication line and ensure that the cable plug is securely fastened without any looseness. If cable damage is found, replace it with a new cable immediately.
