Returning from a long vacation, how to adjust instruments to cope“Long holiday syndrome

The Spring Festival holiday has ended, and returning workers are either real or fake, shouting that they have contracted "long holiday syndrome". In the days after the holiday, not only is their work efficiency low and they cannot enter a working state, but they also feel irritable, have difficulty concentrating, and experience fatigue, poor appetite, insomnia, drowsiness, and other conditions. In the face of this situation, we workers need to adjust our emotions, pay attention to diet and sleep, and adapt to the fast-paced work life with a good mentality and lifestyle habits. As a precious treasure carefully cared for by us practitioners, instruments may occasionally experience "long holiday syndrome".

After returning from the long holiday, not only are personnel busy, but instruments also need to enter a high-intensity working state. Have you done a good job of maintenance before shutting down at the beginning of the holiday? If the shutdown maintenance before the long holiday is not done according to the regulations, it may lead to the occurrence of "long holiday syndrome" in the instrument at the beginning of the holiday.

So first, let's review the maintenance and upkeep of the instrument before the holiday:

1Dust removal and internal and external cleaning of the instrument to prevent the accumulation of dust and residual chemicals, which may lead to a decrease in instrument accuracy; The instrument should also be placed in a suitable temperature and humidity environment to avoid damage caused by low temperature and humidity. Close doors and windows, place valuable instruments in a safe and undisturbed instrument room, pay attention to moisture, direct sunlight, corrosion, and high temperature prevention.

2If there are personnel left behind in the laboratory, the instruments should be regularly powered on for testing, and their performance should be checked. Maintenance and inspection records should be kept regularly to ensure that the instruments are in good working condition for post holiday work.

3Power outages, water outages, and gas source shutdowns in the laboratory must be avoided. Highly toxic, corrosive, flammable, and explosive chemicals used on a daily basis must be stored safely to prevent safety accidents.

When these pre holiday maintenance tasks are done well, we will save a lot of trouble after the holiday. However, we should not take the "long holiday syndrome" of the instrument lightly and follow the following requirements to turn on the instrument after the holiday.

1Adjust the indoor temperature and decide whether to perform dehumidification based on the indoor humidity. After the indoor temperature and humidity stabilize, turn on the machine.

2There are different startup precautions for different instruments. Here, the author briefly lists the post holiday startup precautions for two types of instruments:

Liquid chromatography: Pay attention to whether the solvent on the solvent tray is sufficient and whether there are bubbles inside the infusion tube. Then turn on the power of the host, turn on the computer, and start the chromatography workstation.

Gas chromatography: Before starting up the gas chromatograph, the switches of the carrier gas, helium gas, and air main valves should be turned on first, and the airtightness should be checked. After turning on the power, the workstation should be turned on after self inspection.

3After the instrument is turned on normally, the exhaust system should be turned on to eliminate toxic gases generated during operation and ensure the health of indoor personnel. It should be noted that different instruments have different startup precautions, and laboratory staff must thoroughly understand them before starting up.

The maintenance and upkeep of different instruments and equipment vary. In order to ensure the efficiency of the instruments and extend their service life, it is necessary to maintain them before and after holidays. Of course, if a series of maintenance work has been carried out and the instrument still has operational problems after the holiday, it is still necessary to seek professional after-sales personnel to handle it and ensure the work efficiency of the laboratory after the new year.
